CS45 Latest Pawnshop Crawl
My latest pawnshop crawl has delivered a potential new acquisition: A NIB CS45 with spare mag and original case and paperwork. I'm going to tender and offer of $500 out the door, cash. Question is, am I offering too much? With sales tax, I'm essentially asking for the pistiol at 465 and their list price is $549 without tax. They have a cabinet overflowing with used handguns, most of them modern current-production stuff and I've had some moderate success haggling the price down with them in the past. They know I'm serious because after agreeing, I lay money down.

I would say $500 for a new in box CS-45 would be a good offer. Sure seem to be a much sought after series these days. Hope you score it.

$500 sounds like a fair deal.

Pawn shops generally have about 1/2 cost of their asking price. I would offer $400 and wait for the counter offer...

I like the CS45 and CS9 a lot. They are a lot better guns than other semi-auto guns of the same size.

Paid $450 for mine a few years back, it's worth it
Special Note: They can also use Star M45 mags if you file out the magwell hole & vice versa.
Comes in handy if you have a Star M45 lying around the house

Never hurts to ask lower...but...this sounds like a rare find! Don't be upset if they say "No" and knock only a few bucks off that $549 price. You want this gun!

If you can get it for $500, I think that’s a heck of a deal. NIB? Box and papers? Oh heck yeah! Mags aren’t that expensive. A member just had 2 on here new in Pkg for $25 each.

Great little 45 and a very good buy at that price.
I had mine out at the range again this past Friday. 75 more flawless rounds. Zero malfunctions even shooting it weak hand only.
Great little carry 45. Buy it, shoot it, love it. Good luck with your decision! Regards 18DAI

I picked up mine w/box et al for $425 (inc. tax) at a gun show in April 2016. I was extremely pleased... one of my very, very few actual bargain scores in the last few years. I know I couldn't duplicate that today. One dealer near me just called me yesterday about a top condition CS45 he got in w/box and spare magazine. His price? $675.00+tax.
I could probably knock him down to $599+tax with cash, but that's about it. No thanks. Still far too rich for me.

Update: Today I went to the gunshop and the CS45 was still in the used counter. A friend of 20 years was working there today and I posed the same offer I made to a different guy working there; $500 out the door. The previous fellow declined my offer, so I walked out a week or so ago. My friend promptly picked up the CS45 and went to see the owner, whom I have known for 20 years as well. About 90 seconds later, he comes out nodding in agreement. Well, the CS45 is now on layaway. I'm going to pay it off slowly so I can anticipate having it. To complete my S&W classic auto collection, I need a 1006, but that will be something far down the pike. I don't have around 1000-bucks to drop on a handgun and it would have to be excellent to NIB for me to want it.

I'm telling you guys, vintage S&W automatic collecting is an up and coming niche'. If you're contemplating a buy, don't doddle too long, someone will snatch it out from under you.

The moral of that auction story is.. If you ever have a gun to sell Jim is the guy to consign with. He consistently gets well above the previous average price for gun after gun.

Firearms must just be a lot cheaper down in South Louisiana. About 6 months back, I snagged a CS9 brand new in the box with 3 magazines for $315. Love that little pistol!

It's hot and humid, I don't know that you'd like it. Still, it has very good gun laws and most everything is cheap compared to the Northeast.

The truth be known, I did a lot of work in Louisiana during my career. Had a lot of fun down there too.
But could I take that heat and humidity full-time? That's another question altogether.

It takes more than a little bit of getting used to. Of course, there is New Orleans and then there is Louisiana. Two different things.
Most states (outside of the liberal north east) allow gun sales at pawn shops. Some good deals can be had IF you know what you are looking at and know what it's worth.
Which is like any shop that sells used guns.

Got A/C in houses and vehicles these days....heat & humidity are no longer issues
Drink enough mint juleps and you don't even care if it's hot or humid
