Hogue grips: rubber vs. wood?
A question for those of you who've used the wood Hogues: how do they compare in size to the rubber grips? About the same, or are they larger still? I'm specifically interested in grips for the 4506.

Reading your thread sparked a memory in me. Went rooting around in some boxes and found a set of Hogue grips in wood, and another set in rubber overmold for Beretta 92's. The wood set is thicker by .008" at the thickest point. Yes, I pulled a caliper out. Don't know if that helps with your 4506.

Thanks CR, that's helpful in a general sense.

I gave them a shot twice years ago.But my experiences have been negative from many after market wood grips in that they always fell short in meeting up to the trigger guards. This has also always been with Rosewood by the way.

I bought a set of hogue 1911 wood grips that was larger in the middle to better fit my hand. I got them at their booth at the NRA convention in Pittsburgh. They let me try different ones for fit. They are still on the pistol. Love them. I also have a few rubber grips on some revolvers and l have no complaints

I’ve got a set of dark rosewood hogues on my daily carry P239 and I love them. Feel great in the hand and look pretty snazzy too. They are just a bit thicker than the factory sig plastic grips, but not enough to make any real difference.
