New model 457
I came across a pretty clean model 457 on the popular gun auction site that came complete with all the goodies from the factory including two mags. So I put in a bid I thought was low and I won, all in all I ended up paying $360 shipped to my ffl. When I went to pick up the 457 my dealer had an old flat latch square butt m36 on his desk so I inquired and be said oh you don't want that old beat up thing. I said I sure do how much is it going to cost me and he replied give me $50 for it I couldn't say sold fast enough. After I got the 457 home and gave it a good examination I come to believe that's it's unfired. I really feel like I got away with a theft now. Not bad day after all

What a deal! And it does look new/unfired. They are a great underappreciated 45. Congrats!

Two great pick ups!
I don't know if you are still active or retired. Nor do I know what your agency has in the way of service pistol requirement. With that said, the 457 is a great carry .45 ACP.

Nice score. I bought one the day I turned 21. Wish I still had it.

It appears that you've got the original factory box. If the factory label is intact, tell us the 4-digit "Spec Ord" number and we can decipher that for you based on the years that the Model 457 in black was manufactured (1996-2006).
In this case, the Bible (4th Edition) doesn't help. Txxxxxx serial numbers seem to have been scattered around a bit. All of my own Txxxxxx serial numbers have label dates that are outside that 1996-2006 range in which your Model 457 was presumably manufactured.

I have a 457 bought used and in excellent condition. If you want a .45 ACP EDC this is it as far as I am concerned. It plus an extra mag should see you through anything, If it is not enough, you need to be somewhere else. Of course the key is training. That and a new recoil spring every 3k rounds or so and you have what I consider to be close to the ultimate packer.
