4506 Price Check
Ran across a 4506, Novak fixed sights. Comes with the box (everything in the box including the Kraft paper) and five mags. I'd rate it as 98%. Tag price is $795 but I would expect something like $725 OTD.
Don't see many of these around here but even with three extra mags my gut was telling me even $725 was a little too much. Was my gut wrong?
ETA. I think $725 is what I can talk them down to based on past experience.

That’s about what they’ve been going for on GB. You’ve got almost $100 in extra mags too. Opinions vary, but I’d pay a bit more for the Novak sights.
$725 is probably a very fair price for a like new one with the box and goodies you describe. You might find better local deal but I’d really consider that one, especially if you’re in the market for one. They ain’t getting any cheaper or easier to find.

For a local deal, something you can hold in your hand and check it out a bit before buying, that is well within the ballpark of reasonable.

I'd pay that OTD if it is in good shape, unless it was an early square trigger-guard model. Just not a fan, but that's me.

Now that you mention the trigger guard I'm trying to recall and I don't remember which version it is?

If you are talking about the one at Clark's?
On Williamson road. It is the later version a 4506-1 if I recall. I looked at it when I was last in there. I ended up walking out of there with the 4566 with box and three mags for six bills.
I would not rate that 4506 at 98%. Maybe 95% on a good day, or bad light. Take your pick.

I'd rather not comment on where a firearm is located if I'm still interested in acquiring it. I realize, (based on past experience on this forum the lengths some will go to in order to beat someone else out of a gun) that one runs a risk in asking questions prior to purchase.

That is fine, I certainly understand.

I would say that if you want it you should go ahead and get it. That price is high in my book, but they do not come along every day. But you better take a closer look at it first.

value of 4506-1?
just took in trade on a motorcycle today a 4506-1 with the fixed novak sights, appears to be lightly used, would rate as very good to excellent condition...no box or spare mag, got it from a pre med student, he said his dad bought it new approx. 20 years ago...i’d read up of them, sounded like a keeper, then i tried to rack the slide...my 72 year old hands could do it, but too much effort required for me...so am going to sell...serial #VCD3___ can someone give me an idea of value...i am in arizona...
have pix but can’t figure out how to post with [email protected] this note...
thanks

you are hesitating for a difference of $70 between asking price and what you are comfortable with. Go in with cash and make an offer. They probably got between $350 to $400 in it at most.

That's the problem. I'm not comfortable with that price, that's why I'm asking. I can see my original post could be confusing.

As you've described it (likely Model 4506-1 w/factory box, 5 mags, 98%), it would likely be tagged at between $599 and $799 plus tax in my area. Much would depend on just how close to 100% ANIB it would actually be. Our busiest MA shop sells them for $699 all day long and that is without factory box and generally only two magazines (and often less than 98% condition). I wouldn't pay that, but they do move at that price point. It is rare these days to see any Model 4506-1 priced at under $549-$599 even with "issues." $725 OTD does not sound all that crazy unreasonable to me provided that it really is close to ANIB (~98%) with 5 magazines and no other issues. But that said, $600ish OTD would be much sweeter yet!

I say try to negotiate the price. It sounds like it is a $600-$650 pistol with $100 worth of spare magazines.

It is no bargain, but not unreasonable. By the time you see the next one for sale with so many mags that me be a cheap price. They don't make them like that anymore.

Thanks again to all who replied. I'd run across another 4506 last September, gun and one mag only and it got scooped up before I could pull the trigger, pun intended. Did score this 645 a few years ago at Gander Mountain of all places.
Was sitting in the used gun section with $399 on the tag. Missing the factory stocks. Told the clerk I'd take it and was pleasantly surprised when he went in the back of the store and came out with the original box, accessories and the second factory mag. I run across the different 9x19 and .40 S&W models from time to time but the .45 ACP pistols I just don't see many of.
