Default Five inch 45 PC Barrel

Well this is about the last thing I expected to find on the fleabay but there it was I dropped an obscene $93 on it and now it's on my bench. So what to do... Hmmm. Perfect drop in fit in the PC4506, actually fits a bit better than the original barrel. this one is a good deal tighter at the hood fitment and about 5 tenth's fatter overall so a bit more snug at the bushing.

Interesting tidbit on the electropen marks....
My shorty 45mk2 is marked 23, PC4506 is penned 267, This barrel is marked 1. Makes me wonder where & what gun this came from. Was an 845 used in crime and parted out/frame destroyed at some point? Any thoughts?

I think I'll just hang onto this as a spare for the PC4506... Although... I can't help but think about a Shorty45 suppressor host

Cheers
Bill

All I can tell you is that in my PC pistols, the electro pencil number doesn't match the pistol's actual serial number.

What I think you should do is knock out the standard fixed bushing and set up a 3rd Gen with the Briley! The problem of course is to source the threaded Briley fixture. The spherical ring is easier, but the threaded fixture, I don't know how you'd find that part.

On both my PC guns the slide has a stamp matching the penned number on the barrel. So at some point there was on a bench at Springfield a barrel and slide marked #1. One has to wonder what gun that was.

I have thought about converting a gun to the Briley bushing. no going back from that though. I know Briley has a few of those threaded bushing in the bin back there gathering dust. That requires careful fixturing of the slide on a lathe and cutting threads. I've also tossed around the idea of somehow adapting an oversize 1911 bushing set.

Honestly I like my plain jane 4506 fine just the way it is with the standard barrel and don't plan to mess with it... too much

Cheers
Bill

The Briley bushing is still in use on some CZ models.

I have never seen a Briley spherical barrel bushing on a CZ pistol. What model?
