Wondered into the LGS early this afternoon, and asked the staff if they had anything interesting in the stack of recent trade-ins, and boy did they ever: One of the staff handed me a rather dirty 4506-1, a gun I’ve been looking for, for quite some time now. The allure of the all stainless steel frame and slide, and its extra weight has always attracted me to this model, however few, of any seem to come up for sale in my area, and those that do, are usually priced higher than I’d want to spend.
This one had an additional marking on it that really caught my attention: a laser engraved inventory number for Hartford, CT Police Department, and that number was H.P.D. 2. I am lead to believe this 4506-1 May have been issued to the chief of police at the time, being such a low inventory number, and as is evidenced its overall condition: obviously shot, and plenty of holster wear, but still very tight and smooth, suggesting the gun was carried a lot and shot very little (also not cleaned regularly, if at all)
The gun came to me with two mags, both with black followers, though one was marked for yellow followers only, suggesting it may have belonged to the gun originally, the other appears to be of a later batch. The holster pictured with gun below, appears to be a custom design, and may, or may not have come to the shop with the gun, as I found it later on it the shop’s bin of odds and ends. It was a near prefect for so I grabbed it.
Price out the door for this beauty: $425. I think I got a great deal on it.
