Default Found a 5926 today if anyone is interested in it

While perusing several LGS's today I saw something I'd never seen before, a 5926. I understand that these are fairly scarce. Unfortunately it was not in good condition. It has quite a bit of holster wear and a gun distrubitor's name/address engraved on the frame. I assume this means it was once exported outside of the US and then re-imported. The asking price was $499, which for the condition it was in I thought was high.

If anyone is interested in it, PM me for the location.

That's one I would pick up just to gain the hands-on experience of an xx26 pistol, and even condition wouldn't bother me, but it would have to be OTD under $400 to entice me.

My biggest concern with any xx26 or xx76 pistol is to be able to find a replacement grip as the gripnis obviously not standard 3rd Gen.

I have a 1076 and was able to find a straight grip (it had the curved when I got it) from one of the major gun parts distributors. Unfortunately I can't remember which one. I have small hands and short fingers and the straight grip fits my hand a little bit better.

Those grips are a pain in the *** to find. I picked up a trade in 5926 a while back with a grip that looked like some amateur tried to stipple it. I grabbed two off ebay the moment I saw them. Had to look twice to make sure it was the correct part number/photo.

It would have been nice if S&W had made a 39xx compact in the configuration.

Midway has had them in stock frequently as of late.

Bummer. While I am already done with my 3rd Gen collecting for this year, I'd probably make an exception for a 3rd Gen frame decocker in good enough shape. In fact, one of my local dealers is pushing me to go for a Model 6926 that he found on-line from one of his sources. Condition is highly questionable without more photos, so I'm not really all that excited about it.

Too bad they messed up the frame. On the ones that I have, the distributor/importer stamped their name on the barrel - so that's an easy replacement. As for holster wear, think a reblast should fix that easily, since these guns have stainless slides and frames.

Were they from a seller in Columbia, MO? I saw those listed but was leary of purchasing some. I recently bought some from Numrich, but they ended up being regular 5906 grips.

If you are interested in letting go of one of the sets, PM me.

The "concern" you cited, Sevens, is behind my having about six of those grips on hand.

When I first "de-gripped" one of mine and noticed the tunnel work on the usually unseen side, prompting a further careful exam of the grip's remainder and finding a bump or two, it was decided to get a few.

Haven't yet used one, however.

Later.

Didn't notice this reply until now, but they are the real deal - they did indeed come from Columbia. I can definitely let you have a spare set.
