Found another one....model 908
Back on my local forums again, and the good stuff is still popping up....
Seller is offering a laser etched slide 908 for $250, I counteroffered with $200, waiting to see if he will take it. I’m not sure what the true value of these guns are but I seem to recall reading that they were about $450 new. I have a 3913 already so I’d be hard pressed to give more than $200 for the “budget” model.
What do you guys think?

Good buy at 300 or less. The 908s model on stainless is almost the same as the 3913 without the slide cuts/milling

I paid about that for a complete 909 slide assembly (minus barrel)

I paid $300+tax a while back for my all-black Model 908. Just the other day, I scored a stainless Model 908S for the same $300+tax. No box but two mags. Very nice shape, but not quite factory perfect. It's going to become my shooter 908S as my other one is pristine ANIB. I want to keep it that way. I paid a fortune for that first (ANIB) 908S.
$200 would be a steal either way... for a 908 or a 908S... unless it is "used & abused" beyond recognition.

I agree. $300 is probably a benchmark anything less is a great buy.

He wants 225 for it, and it looks to be in excellent shape. I guess I’ll pick it up, even though it will run me about $250 with the transfer cost added in. I only paid $320 for my 3913 and that came with 3 mags and 2 sets of grips.

For $225, I would be on his porch with cash in hand YESTERDAY! That is a bargain for a great pistol that will outlast you. I carried a 908 for a few years before I decided to switch to a 3953. If you don't pick it up at that price, you will regret it. Now go!

FWIW, although never known for their cheap prices, Collector's Firearms in Houston are offering their 908 at $530.

Well I got it. $225+ transfer for a total of $250. It was rougher in person than in the pictures. Slide had some surface rust issues but I got that mostly cleaned up with a little oil and a brush. I forgot just how bad the slide finish sucked on these value line pistols, anyway I think it was worth the cost. I don’t have to worry about beating it up when I carry it or throw it in the glovebox.

Glockman4 - it looks pretty dang good to me. I assume you meant for the photo of the top of the slide to show some rust/discoloration up near the front sight. If it were mine - I'd use some bronze wool and CLP there - then degrease it and use (don't laugh) steel wool and Birchwood Casey cold blue (liquid) to darken the finish. Either way - good catch!!

I think you scored a good gun at an awesome price friend. I do not know what your experience is with the 3rd gems, but if you started with a 39xx, now a 908, soon who knows what you will find next... I predict in the near future you may choose to change your forum name from Glockman to 3rd-gen-man!!! hahaha! just kidding! Just as a comparison, in my hometown here in Europe, there are two 908s for sale. 1 is described as "very good" at the equivalent of $596 while the other is in excellent condition and at $767. Two magazines each. I have no idea if they include boxes or not. To put prices in perspective, a rail P226 in excellent condition is $708, while a Walther PPQ 9mm in very good condition is $535.
Enjoy your new find friend!!!

There were multiple spots of light rust, especially in the slide serrations as you can see in the pictures. Again it’s not that bad and I managed to clean it up pretty well. I think I might try the cold blue just because I’m anal, but again I paid for a cheap gun and that’s what I got. The frame rails are excellent, all black except on top. It will make a great shooter/carry gun so I can keep my 3913 in excellent shape.
