Question Model 41 date/value?

At a LGS yesterday and saw a Model 41. Believe it had a 7 inch barrel with muzzle break.

Serial number is A130144.

It had a box with what looked to be a foam insert with a cutout for the pistol and a place for one magazine (which is all it had). Box was in bad shape.

Bluing on the 41 was pretty good. No major scratches or excess wear. It did have the cocking indicator also.

Any information would be appreciated--date shipped, approximate value....

Has it priced at $1195. Should I?

Looks as though it was made in 1970. Not really up on current values for these but the price seems on the high end of the fair range.

Would agree on about 1970, but S&W Jinks for actual ship date. The box (insert) is not correct to pistol.

Without a picture its hard to tell, but WITH the Cocking Indicator (a nice old feature to have) and in excellent condition about $1,100.00 + is what they command with the box. If not pristine and no box, $950-1,000 is more in line. Just in OK condition (fair) I've seen them for $800.00.

Another factor is how many ORIGINAL METAL FOLLOWER Magazines are included. The new Magazines S&W sells are pure and absolute RUBBISH! Most of the time they won't even work or even insert fully in a vintage M41 so if buying a vintage M41 unless you get an adequate amount of magazines with the gun itself (minimum is 2 IMO) ) you will spend $60 - $80 bucks for an original metal follower type on ebay - and they will function properly.

I just bought basically the same pistol, A117XXX (1970) for $850, one magazine and no box. I doubt it has had more than a couple of boxes shot. I think I got a much better than average deal, pricing depends on the local market as well.

Default Model 41 date/Value

Not that this is an indication of prices today, but I was at Cabela's in Richfield Wisconsin this afternoon. There was a Model 41, heavy barrel, 5.5" in the gun room with an asking price of $1,600 but is listed online for $999.
It looks to be in Mint condition.

I don't know how much help this will be, given the vagaries of S&W's shipping, but my earliest is #28447, shipped September 16, 1961; #A132961, shipped June 11, 1971; and #A304813 (a 41-1 actually) shipped January 31, 1977.

I have no clue on current values.

I also think its a wee bit high on price as well. With only one mag I would offer $950.00. I happen to have a 1958 m41 with 12 mags from many different years and all of them work fine for me.
