Default RSR needs an Earl Minot

I was amazed that RSR said they have no records of their special run S&W PC pistols.

I spent some email time, and days later that is the answer. First I was told I had to be an FFL to get any info, and luckily I used to have one, and actually ordered from them. Unfortunately, I was told that RSR does not have any records, and their people directed me to the S&W Factory Letter form site. I wouldn't mind going that route, but I think I would only get a total run number. I'm pretty sure I would not get an individual number for blued, stainless, or the combination of both.

Earl at Lew Horton is a great guy, and is happy to furnish all of the info on their special runs. I was totally surprised that RSR does not have any records of theirs.

Jim

Jim,

Might be because last I had heard, they didn't like each other. Just a theory. I too would love to see if they have any info on RSR S&Ws.

Back 35 years ago, RSR was on East Hiway 50 in a small location. Guys were friendly and helpful and were glad to help you at the counter. After they recognized your face they'd buzz you in automatically. I could drive up and give "same day service" on in stock items for an extra $20. When they moved over to Metric Drive about 25 years ago their "personality" changed. They made it plain that small volume FFL's need not waste their time. I used to do $5digits /yr business but not in one transaction which is what they required. Their "specials" were exactly that though. Joe

I picked up a Stealth Hunter.. curious, I called Earl at Lew Horton and he told me it was probably distributed by RSR.. called RSR and they were no help..

Called S&W and a very helpful CS rep accessed an older software program and gave me information that 262 were shipped to RSR..

Earl knew more about RSR than RSR did..

My only RSR special is this 629 from 1982. Came from them with Combat Stocks, MagNaPort, polished trigger face. Still have box, papers, etc., but nothing from RSR about it being a special run. I had an FFL back then and bought it directly from them. Who would know that documentation, boxes, etc. would be so important three decades later. Most of us bought the GUN, not the ancillaries.

Default Earl Minot

I cannot say enough positive about Earl Minot! He has worked with me on multiple occasions and always went above and beyond.

Not just RSR, but every company should have an Earl Minot on their staff for customer service!

Earl is a pearl, for sure. Not every company can be so lucky, and not every company cares about its customers like the folks at Lew Horton.

You guys do know Earl's a member here, right?

Ever have a question about a Lew Horton product, Earl's your guy. Very quick to respond, too.

"You guys do know Earl's a member here, right?"

That is one of the reasons I started this post. I was hoping that some would agree with me and post their great experiences and gratitude of/for Earl. I wanted him to see how much he is appreciated. I actually sent an email to Lew Horton telling them how awesome Earl is, but it went to HIM.

Thanks for adding to my post.

Jim
