I know there's videos out there showing you what and how to polish a 3rd gen which I used with success on a 4506-1, but will say your detailed pictures and narration on the how to will make my 5906/469 frankengun much better. It will allow me to get deeper and more precise than I did with the 4506. I think this thread should be considered for a sticky.

Thanks! I found this thread, which contains links to some of best quality gunsmithing videos I’ve ever seen on YouTube. There’s a series of 4 videos on third gen Smiths. Maybe these are the ones you’re referring to. These are a MUST see before working on a third gen imo. I can also provide photos of the tools and methods I use if anyone is interested, or perhaps wondering how something in particular is done

It's a black version, if not NIB, very close to it. So, I'm now looking for a shooter.
18DAI let me shoot his and I was immediately hooked. The entire buying experience was unusual. I wanted it so much that I agreed to drive 5 hours roundtrip. As soon as I saw it, I handed over the cash. Apparently the seller took great pity on me for the long voyage and invited me out to his place in the boonies to "shoot a couple unusual guns".
When we arrived, he went into his barn and came out with two full-auto's (22 and 9). I didn't go prepared to shoot so I walked back to my car, scrounged around and found a paper napkin. When the seller saw me shredding the napkin and stuffing pieces into my ears, he said, "Oh, you're not gonna need that". With that, he reached into his bag and pulled out a can that worked with both guns.
This CS is always gonna make me when I pull it outta the safe and remember that day. In addition to wanting a CS9 shooter, I believe I'd like to own a .40 and .45 to complete "the set".

Nice one Jeppo. Looks just like the one I bought a few weeks ago.
Mine will be a shooter!

Very nice Jeppo! Congrats!
Now that you have shot some class III stuff, get me a list of what you will be looking for. Regards 18DAI

Today I purchased a certificate for a set of XS Bog Dot sights at a huge discount, from a gentleman at Enos forum. So I will order a set of the Big Dot sights for my CS9. I think they will perfectly complement this gun and it’s intended purposes

My CS9 “Chiefs Special” Mods
I’ve been considering whether to put the Big Dot sights on the CS9. Since they also fit 3913, I could put them on my 3913TSW instead. So the sights just languish in the package for now

The metal disconnector (104210000) was used on 2nd and 3rd gen pistols until sometime in the mid 90s. The plastic disconnector (239070000) was used after that.
