Anyone have on of these pre- e series 1911ís. How do you like it, how do they rate compared to the e series?

Thanks!

Can't compare to the new ones....never even handled one. I've had my 282 for quite a few years. I use it in IDPA matches. Accurate and 100% reliable...but the trigger was very sloppy...if you shook the gun you could easily hear it rattle. The plunger tube sheared off and i sent it in to be repaired...and asked that they do something about the trigger. They did not. I ended up installing a STI trigger myself. I don't shoot it as much as i used to but overall I'm happy with it.

The 282's are just fine as are the E series, you will be satisfied with either one. There are some minor differences but the one the is most noticeable is the lack of a firing pin block on the E series. Not a big deal one way or the other just a bit easier to clean the E!
