Default Model 41 Extendable Sight

Has anyone bent one due to careless handling?

Myself NO but I can imagine someone has accidently. I have yet to own that model or issue of a M41. I can imagine the nightmare of really bending one real bad and leaving a serious crease in the metal. I would probably scream loud enough to almost wake up the dead six counties over.

More likely to break than bend much. Replacements are difficult to find, but out there. I am down to my last one.

A LNIB Model 41 (mid 1960s) just sold for $1435 on GB. Not bad considering the SCSW applies a 25% premium for the extendable sight model.

I let others shoot my standard sights M41 5.5". I'd be very reluctant to let anyone handle an extend sight model if I had one.

Here's a pic from the GB ad with the sight extended. Sure looks vulnerable if some fool bangs it against the shooting table or heavy pistol rest.

Maybe it's much stronger than it looks.

It's extended way too far out in that picture! I only extend mine out to the reference line that is on the front sight. (see updated picture)

That makes sense. The front set screw has to contact the barrel. Thanks for the comment.
