Picked up new to me 3913 Ladysmith. Seller was the only owner and had originally bought it for his wife. Photos that he provided prior to sale showed the black SW grips like the other 3913’s. I asked about the grey grips and he indicated the black grips were original and that’s how he bought it.
So my question — is this one of those SW oddities? I’m not stressed about the black as I like it better that way but if anyone has thoughts let me know.
You can usually tell if the gray and black grips have been switched simply by the color of the grip pin - gray grips used a silver pin and black grips used a dark pin. At the time I replaced my gray LS pre-recall grips, S&W was out of gray so I had them send me black - I actually like that look much better.
There's a very recent thread on this. It appears that most of the 3913LS guns shipped with the light grey grips, but some few shipped with the black grips.
As with all 3rd Gens, it seems that there were some oddities. I bought a set of the grey grips and put them on one of my standard 3913s. I decided I liked the black better and swapped back.
