2213/2214 Magazines
So why are these so scarce?
I know that they only produced them for a short time, but I've never seen another S&W magazine so hard to find...

Yeah, $100 for a used magazine is mighty steep - and that would be because they are hard to find.
The 10 round version for the 422 is available just about anywhere BRAND NEW for $25-$30.

When I bought my 2213 last spring I was a little hesitant on the price... until he showed me the little factory pouch and 4 magazines. Then it was a good price.

You know the 422/622/2206 mags work in the smaller pistols?
I use 10/12 rounders all the time, sure they hang out of the grip, but it's a lot more fun shooting those pistols with higher capacity mags.
Someone needs to 3d print some sleeves for them, much like are available for Glocks.
I have a bunch of the smaller mags that are rarely used, at $100 a pop I should start selling them off...

TTSH, my 2214 NIB came with 2 mags. I'm always on the hunt for these mags at shows, pawn shops and gun stores.
In perspective, I've owned this for almost 2 years and still have yet to find a spare mag in person available for purchase.

Yeah, I knew the longer ones work, and I'll probably pick up a couple for the range.
I'd still like to get at least one of the 8-round standard mags too though...

I have searched and can't find the auction you're talking about. Could you send me a link by PM?

This thread reminded me of my long-since (over 20 years) sold 2213. I bought new in Tucson and I think it came with two mags. So, I said to myself, let me look on Crook Broker and see if I can find one. I found the 2214 below and there wasn't too much bidding interest in it. Looking at the photos - if they haven't been doctored - it's the cleanest 2214 I've ever seen offered there. So - just for giggles - I bid what I was willing to pay and forgot about it. Just got an email - I got it! Again, good news - it looks as-new. Bad news, though, only one mag. Double-bad news, I'm a day late and a dollar short for any mags at a reasonable price. I'm not greedy - I only want a second mag - anyone else know of a reasonable source for one mag?
It doesn't have a box but that part should be easier - although I think my 2213 came in a smaller-sized one-piece BP box.

Score!!!!!!! That's almost better than winning the lottery!
I am resigned to the fact that I will never own a Model 2213 or 2214 pistol. I had my one local chance and I blew it. I waited too long just because I didn't want to own a gun with no spare magazine. I eventually scored a magazine, but it was too little too late.
I could pay this month's household budget shortfall by selling that 2213/2214 magazine, but I still can't bring myself to do it.

Wow $100 for .22 magazine. Sounds like taking the route of auto repairs! Recall when we discussed the prices of CS-9-40-45 mags a while back. Heck I was shocked at a $45 price.

The package with the 4 mags showed up today. They all show light wear from use - as expected since they aren't new magazines.
I just saw a completed auction for 3 of them at $27 apiece + actual shipping for BRAND NEW magazines. That auction looks like it lasted about an hour! I'd probably have bought these too if I had seen the auction in time.
Someone obviously had no idea how hard these are to find or what they are currently going for.

Repairing 2214 magazines
I just have two quick questions:
1. Can old 2214 magazines be repaired?
2. Are there any non Smith & Wesson knock offs that fit it and
work properly?

Well.... repair, sure, depending on what part is messed up! If you have damaged the magazine body and/or feed lips, I can’t see much chance of repair success. But if you have a problem with spring, follower, floorplate or the pin — all of those parts could be sourced and modified from a Model 41 magazine.
Second question...
Nope. Pretty sure that nobody ever made a 41 magazine except S&W, and even more sure that nobody ever made the 8-round 2213/2214 mag except S&W.

2. Nope.

Magazines for the 41 are the same magazines for the 2206, 622 and 422 and these magazines will fit and function in the 2213/2214 also.

Many times on this forum I have referenced a crazy estate sale that I attended back in 2016 or so. The prices were favorable and I bought five handguns including a NIB 422 and a NIB 2213. There were boxes overflowing with magazines and accessories and the estate sale company was selling entire boxes for $10-$20 just to clear things out. I bought a bunch of BHP mags and left. Of course I got home and realized each of the S&W pistols I had bought had only a single magazine. I ran back to the sale to find that someone had purchased all of the remaining firearm accessories. Big regret. Luckily, the local market was soon flooded with 2213 magazines for the next several months as people sold off their finds from the sale on Armslist, etc. I ended up picking a few up for what would be considered a great deal, but the sellers made a killing.

Thanks for the information.
Does anyone know what the "round life expectancy" of a 2214 is? I figure that about 2,000 rounds have been put through mine. Is that a lot?

Way more than 2K rounds, at some point around 10K you might have to replace the recoil spring, then keep going for another 10K.

I see them used at gun shows for $40-$60. I guess that I should buy and sell here.

If you find the 8-rounders for that price, buy every one you find and I'll give you the purchase price plus $10 each AND pay the shipping for you to send them to me.

Is it a sleeve to go around the part of the mag that sticks out?
I shoot 10-12 rounders in my 2213/2214 pretty exclusively. I've looked at making a sleeve.

I'd be interested in buying a few sleeves if they are available.

Understand, they are common for Glocks, I use my 17 mags in my 19 and 26. I just wanted to see what it looked like, I'm going to make some eventually.
