Default Will the 925 slide fit on a 909?

As some of you know I am a bit of a nut about frankensmiths.
I have been (and remain) unable to find locally a 3906 or 3904 pistol. I have several (many?) other S&W pistols but these speak to me in their own way, and I want one of them or the other (not picky) pretty badly.
At Kittery Trading Post for $450 is a like-new model 909. This ALMOST works for me, but not quite.
I happen to have a 915 upper half I bought for another project and I was wondering (before I buy the 909 and regret it) if my 915 slide (or a 5904 slide for that matter) will fit this pistol.
Anyone know?

I know a 915 slide works just fine on a 910 frame, but sure this helps.

Actually that does help, because the 909 and 915 (theoretically) are exactly the same with the exception of frame width.
I have looked at the 909 about 10 times and determined NOT to buy it based on my assumption that I would not be able to improve it much. I am not shy about modifications and not at all hesitant to cut on a 909, but wanted to avoid buying a pistol forever relegated to "ok" status among my favored and wonderful oddities.

Though I've never tried this particular combination, in theory a 915 slide should work on a 909 frame. The opposite - a 909 slide on a 915 frame - will not work due to the front frame rails on the 915 and lack of corresponding grooves on the 909 slide lug.

If you take a ride down to North Carolina, I have a 909 you can use to test.

Jeppo I would have taken you up on that 5 years ago when I live in VA Beach, but I'm a darn sight further up the road now!
Thanks all for the replies. Stay tuned as I might just have that sucker shortly.
Best,
Steve

Isn't the 909 just the Value Series version of the 3904? Should be the same barrel length as the 3904, 915, 5906, etc.

I don't know why you would want to change out to a 915 upper on the 909 lower. Slides should be the same barrel length.
