Default Recoil spring

I'm in the market for a stock replacement recoil spring for my SW1911 SKU#108282. I would like to keep a replacement on hand just in case. Please advise. Thank you.

OK, if yours is a full size 1911 with 5 inch barrel, the standard spring is a 16 lb spring. Some folks like an 18.5 lb spring. Try Wolff gunsprings, Brownells or various other suppliers like Speed Shooters Supply, Natchez Shooting Supply etc.

I'd recommend keeping the stock weight, 16 pounds, and buying them from Wolff. I have always had good results with Wolff springs and they are high quality items.

If you're using full power 230 gr. ammo all the time, an 18.5# Wolff or Wilson Combat spring is great. If you are shooting lighter stuff now and then, a 16# might be a wise choice. Good luck. FWIW

Roundgun,

CDNN currently offers a 3-pack of 16lb 1911 recoil springs made by Remington for just $4.99. These are well made.

Turns out they sent me a Wolf brand spring. Thank you for all the great info. I feel better with a back up spring in my range bag.
