Usually, you can find me over in the revolver section of the forum, but I happened to find this at my local shooting range to add to my small collection of DAO's. I've searched the threads, and it looks like 600 to 1200 made. Anyone know a
definitive answer? I picked this one up for $450 out the door, from what I could tell, that was a decent price.

Very nice!
Sorry can't help with how many were made but you could try emailing S&W.

Guesstimates are around 500 made, it would be a good piece to get lettered by Roy Jinks.

I'd call that a score.

I purchased a NOS 4546 a couple of years ago. From the looks of it, that gun is in pretty good shape for $450. I think you will really, really, enjoy it.
When I bought mine, I was unaware that it was as "scarce" as it is. Makes it even better.
Thanks for sharing your score.

Over three months ago, one of these sold on GB for $705. Today another one, the only one that has come up since then, sold for $705. I thought that was curious.
The SN on this one was TMJ1295. Does that mean at least 1300 were made? That's higher then most of the forum speculation I've seen that estimates 400-500. One day I'll get one of these. I bid $700 on the one month ago, but I didn't bid on this one today.

Not necessarily. S&W usually assigns the next available serial number to which ever model/caliber is finished next, whether it's a 9mm or a 40S&W etc, for production models. Likely many other models are within that 1300 number range.

They seem to be. I've got an active search for them on GB and only seen two come up in a year or so.
