469 tritium sight mod
Hello all, is the rear sight dove-tail the same dimension for the 469 and 6906 ? Want to refit some tritiums to my old 469. Anyone tried it before ?

Not the same dovetail for the later model 6906. They used a Novack cut rear. Also i think the 469 has a fixed front sight correct? Could be drilled for a tritium vial but not removed and replaced with one without cutting a new front dovetail.
Drilling the front sight for a tritium vial isnt all that hard. I did this Beretta with a cordless Milwaukee drill on my kitchen counter.

What sights are on there now? What can be fitted kind of depends on how your gun was configured. If you already have dovetails fore and aft then there are sight sets that'll go right on.
The older guns lack the Novak cut for the backsight and have a fixed front but those issues can be addressed with a bit of careful milling.
Cheers

Here's an example...
This is a Mod 669 I modified to fit a Novak low mount backsight a couple years ago.
Cheers

You can, it just takes a little work. all the S&W dovetails are 74° angles. for the rear you just need to cut/lower the flat aft of the original dovetail cut to fit the novak's rearward overhang. then the 6906 sight will go right in. The front dovetail for S&W is also 74° by .250 cut. You'll want to use the 6906 front to get the correct height in relation to rear. Best to mill that cut. It's going to be kinda tough to cut an accurate 74° angle with a threesquare file. I wouldn't attempt it.
Cheers

Rear cut is 74° x 0.430" New sight bases measure around 0.432" so you have a very tight interference fit.
Cheers

I have hand cut a few dovetails over the years. It takes time and patience. Let us know how it turns out.

I need a fixed rear for a 659. Is it the same as what you're taking off?

What I'm looking for is this. If you've got one in good condition, I'd like to buy it.
Thanks
