639 Value
I’m seeing these at $600 and up, but none with all the box, tools and paperwork.
Owned since new, has a few hundred rounds down the tube. Box is in good shape. Tool kit is unopened and I don’t think the paperwork has ever been unfolded. Have a set of Pachmayr grips with it as well. About as lightly used as a used gun can be. Never been holstered.
What do you guys think for value?
Thank you.

According to the S&W standard catalog 4th edition.
ANIB $650.00
EXC $525.00
VG $400.00
I'd be the new owner at $475.00.
Good luck.

This 639, like yours, recently sold for $905 after starting at $0.01.

Around $550-600 seems about right. Never know what they may sell for on Gunbroker! For $900 someone had to have it or maybe a bidding war? Never forgot the matching 98k that sold for $5000 a few weeks back on Gunbroker.

Yeah, that $900 one was a little over-the-top crazy... ... but consider that the OP's gun looks to be in even better shape than that $900 bidding war piece. OP needs to go to GB for sure as I don't see that kind of selling price being achieved without a bidding war.

I hear ya TTSH. Seems some see what they want on GB and price means nothing. At least they get what they want and who knows what the prices may be down the road. Be something if Third Gens follow Python prices!!

magstang, I don't know, but I've never been able to buy high condition guns at the prices shown in the SCSW, Blue Book, etc. What I have routinely experienced, is dealers in shops and gun shows whipping out this or that publication to show me how little any gun I'm interested in trading or selling is worth. Much like some estimates given on enthusiast forums when an owner inquires. Conversely, no dealer has ever showed me the SCSW, Blue Book, etc. to show why the gun/s they are selling are priced so high. The FBI might call that a clue. Gun Broker prices actually show what someone is willing to pay on the day the auction closes. I have occasionally used GB to buy and sell. I've been pleased to find some guns I'd never find locally, but I can't claim any were a bargain. When I've sold, I've often been surprised at the closing bid, in a GOOD way.......ymmv

Bidding wars on GB are best set up with a starting price of $0.01 with at least one week to auction end. You'll need plenty of good quality pictures and a great write-up. Sarah15 is a good example of a seller that has the magic formula.

I appreciate the information, strategy and insight.
I’ve been a long time lurker and reader of this forum. Unfortunately I do more reading and learning than posting. I don’t want to be “that guy” that shows up to sell.
I prefer to post things for sale here and there and negotiate an offer but like many things in life, my ideas don’t always translate to the way others think. I’ve never been afraid to offer what I think is fair, regardless of asking if I have something to justify my offer. It seems most others scoff and move on. I’ll try it may way for a bit then most likely move to auction.
I didn’t know GunBroker had a sold guns search feature. I got burned by them in the past and have mostly avoided going back. I guess I’ll have to put the past behind me and use that resource for what it is.
This forum has always been an honest, straight forward source of quality information. I appreciate that very much. That’s why I asked here first.
Thanks for the selling tips. I’ll resume my lurking. I have some homework to do on a few guns.

I've got $600 in my adjustable sighted, round trigger guard 639, including (3) original SS mags.

I haven't bought a blue book since 1996, they are notoriously inaccurate. I used to get that shotgun news sized paper whose name escapes me, don't think it exists now. But where shotgun news was mostly business ads, this one was mostly private sellers, and you usually had a half dozen of anything to compare, high low and average, to cipher out a price.......gunlist! That was it....
