Model 41
I've been looking for a nice small bore target pistol to compete with my wife's High Standard Victor. One model of particular interest has been the S&W model 41 and I finally found one for a decent price.
It arrived at my FFL's today and I grabbed a few pictures before it went into the safe for the obligatory 10 "cooling-off" period.

Just another reminder of the joys of "Pay & Carry Out" state. Cooling Off is enjoying the air conditioning while you complete your purchase paperwork.
My last revolver took 3 minutes to buy with a carry permit.
EDIT: I am on my third case of CCI Blazer ammo shooting through my two M41 pistols. It was the most accurate 22 LR ammo I have found. It works great in two M41, two Ruger MkII, Ruger 10-22, five S&W revolvers, and a Kimber G82 target rifle. The best part is that bricks or cases of CCI Blazer are bricks $22, cases about $210-- no more $35 for a brick of 500.
If you read the CCI Blazer fine print, the muzzle velocity is sub-sonic in a hand gun.

Ten days might be tough, but didn't there used to be some states with 30 days?
In any case, you're going to love it! See if you can find a couple spare original Smith magazines, not the current manufacture stuff. They aren't as good as the originals IMHO. Some extra mags will make your range trips more enjoyable.

You will probably find that it will like the CCI SV ammo the best in it. I am currently shooting mine with a full cast on my R/hand as I have a broken hand and wrist. No problem I found out this past Tuesday night. Did not bother my hand or wrist at all. Another two weeks to go with the cast then I go in for a hip replacement on the R/side also.

Very nice M41! We need to see more pictures and a complete range report once you've cooled off enough that California will trust you to pick it up.
I've encountered a couple of problems with mine that you may run into also. First, the accuracy with mine is outstanding off the bench with sandbags but falls off considerably when fired offhand?? Can't understand that at all. The other problem I've had is the growing collection syndrome. You've started out with a nice 7" barrel but soon you'll be wondering what a 5 1/2" HB would be like. Then the siren call of the elusive 5" field barrel will haunt your dreams. Custom grips, red dot sights, cases of ammo, etc. Just a fair warning of what you may be letting yourself in for!

Nice 41, I have one and it is a really fun gun to shoot. LIke Bastogne71 mine for some reason is much more accurate when I shoot it off sandbags and than when I shoot offhand. In all seriousness they are nice pistols and like others have said CCI SV seems to be the ammo of choice.

I tried to convince my FFL that I was sufficiently dispassionate to take the model 41 immediately...no dice.

Calfed I am sure you will find the wait worthwhile for this gun. Mine was made in 1958 and still shoots as good as the day it was built both freehand on off a bench rest. Its one of the finest sport pistols ever produced by any Gunmaker in the world at any time. We know you will enjoy yours a lot when you pick it up.

Nice pair to shoot with now. Use CCI SV in the M41 and you should have a Very Happy Gun for Life.
