Default M41 mags

I have 4 new 422 magazines. They will not lock in M41. The slot
for mag lock is slightly different. The catalogs show S&W factory
mags are interchangeable between 422 & 41. Am I missing some
thing? Should I take a file to them or trade them off and look for
M41 mags. I got my fingers burnt a few days ago when old 41
mags were on forum. I was fast but not fast enough.

Over the last 6 years I have bought two new mags every year and had nothing but good luck with all of them. I own a M46 and a M41 and they all work in both quite well. Sometimes we do get lucky.

Hmmm that’s interesting. I have two 422s in my collection and my 41 mags fit without any problems. The mags that came with the 422s fit in my 41s as well.

I have never had an issue with factory magazines for the 41/46/x22/220x family of pistols working in my model 41s

DRM50 I suspect someone slipped you some garbage that they knew was bad as they should fit with ease in your 422 and m41's. I hate rotten sellers who cheat people unless your lockdown pin is jammed. My M46 did this to me last Tuesday night on the range but a few drops of oil took care of that real quick. My M46 hasen't been fired in many months prior to last week as it is my backup gun for my M41.

Don't the 41 and 422 mags also fit the 2213 and 2214 models?
They are 10-round vs the stock 8 round, but they should still fit and function, right?
So would the full list would be 41, 46, 422, 220x, 2213, & 2214?

The 622 also takes the same mags I think.

Yes I do believe the 622 is part of the series that can use these same magazines as well. Actually I believe they were all 10 round mags for this series as I myself have never seen a 8 round mag as yet for either of mine. TWO old style came with my 1958- M41 which were both 10 round mags.

My 2214 came with an 8 round mag, FWIW.
Unfortunately they are very hard to find and expensive to buy when you do - like in the $100 range...

I'd like to find at least one at a more reasonable price, but I guess I'm going to have to end up buying a couple of the 10-rounders. They seem to go for a much more reasonable $25-$35.

Have you thought of dropping off the grips and having a look at why these mags are not locking in ??

Thats a Great idea as sometimes from lack of play time the grab lever inside will stick and not lock up on the mags. Had it 2 weeks ago on my M46 which has not been fired until then this year. A few drops of oil on it and it worked great again.
