S&W 908 DA trigger question
I just purchased 908, but have not shot it yet. I have noticed that when dry firing in DA mode, there is a "false reset" as I let the trigger out. There is a "click" about half way out toward the actual point of reset, and if I pull the trigger at that point the hammer will cock about 1/8" and then fall. I realize that this situation does not mimic actual shooting conditions (with the exception of a light strike), but it concerns me nevertheless. Can anyone shed light on this?
Thanks!
John

Hello John,
I have two 908's. A 908 & a 908S, as well as two 3913's and a 669. That "click" about half way to reset appears to be common with all of mine as well. This also appears to be true for my 669. I would not concern myself with it as again, it appears to be common with these Gen pistols.

Great! Good to know that this is not a problem.
Thanks,

Pull the trigger and hold..
Rack the slide to cock hammer..
Slowly let out trigger.. the click is trigger reset..
Pull trigger and you feel a crisp short hammer drop..

Yes, I tried that and was very pleased with the short, positive reset!

There is a trigger play spring on the 3rd Gen guns that can go out of adjustment and cause a click. One of my 457s had that problem. It can be adjusted using the eraser end of a pencil, but has to be done carefully.
Someone with more knowledge of the procedure can explain how to do it without breaking off the spring.
