Default Will a standard S&W 1911 SC slide fit onto a Performance Center (PC) frame?

I love my PC but I also love Safariland ALS holsters....well the two don't mix very well! The locking bar gets stuck into the lightening cuts and takes a second hand to unholster. I'm not able to buy a standard E series 1911 right now so I'm curious...could I just buy a standard slide and that mate with my PC frame?

Why? Just get a holster that fits your PCSC or have one made, problem solved.

Why?

Open carry. Sometimes I open carry and I want retention for all my open carry choices.

I have found very few holster makers that will make a thumb break for a 1911 and thumb breaks aren't the best for a beavertail grip safety or retention.

*Actually my Safariland ALS is working well with the PC. I put several layers of electrical tape over the left side "lightening cuts" and that is allowing smooth draws. It's just a stop gap though.

Anyone else know the answer to the original post?

In theory, I do not see why this would not work. I have owned both and nothing stands out in my memory of why it should not work. They are both series 70 style.
However, historically 1911s are usually "fit" together rather than assembled out of a box of components like a Glock. S&W did advertise that the e-series was manufactured with tight machine tolerances, etc so maybe they have it to the point of just pure assembly and no hand fit.
Best would be to put a shout out on the forum for members in your state that have an E series and see if they'd be willing to meet up for a cup of coffee and see if the slides will swap. Or, meet them at a range and let them run a few mags through your PC 1911. Most people have never shot one and are interested in how they compare to their E series.

Also, before someone replies back to me, I am also assuming you will put a new barrel on it as the PC gun has that PITA Briley Bushing to deal with and that could complicate using the same barrel with a new slide.
By the time you get a new complete slide and barrel combo, you are less than a Glock away from an E Series especially if you are willing to look at used (we all have some version of plastic in our gunsafes that sells to the masses so I always use a glock as line in the sand for am I close enough to but a different gun )
For the record, my daily carry is an E Series 1911 SC roundbutt. After a little trigger tune from my LGS, it outshot my PC 1911 hands down so the PC gun went along down the road. It is the all black version in the pic.

Another option would be the Recover Tactical rail "jacket" and matching holster. Google that company and see how the two items work. The holster comes in "passive" (no gun retention) and "active" styles. I have the active model and have to depress a flush button with my trigger finger while drawing the gun.

I have an E-Series (#108482) 1911 in the Recover CC3P grip and rail system and HC11 holster. I put a Wilson magwell, extended slide release, extended magazine release and ambidextrous thumb safety and a Streamlight TLR-1 rail-mounted light on it. As equipped, I have what I consider a good carry gun. Yes, it's heavier than its Sc cousin would be but my E-Series Sc 1911 (the two-tone one) is on "loan" to our son right now along with my Galco Miami Classic shoulder rig.

A father has to do what he has to do. And besides, I hadn't bought a new 1911 in a while. Plus I can remove the grip and rail system if/when I no longer want the gun set up that way.

That is a good suggestion and I would certainly be willing to show up with a choice case of beer, lunch, etc. for such an opportunity.

So your basic SC outshot the PC model? That's interesting.

And yes, I figured I'd have to get a new barrel and bushing also.
