Default SW22 VICTORY REAR SIGHT ELEVATION SCREW

I purchased a Victory on Aug 4. Returned it to the dealer the next day noting the elevation adjustment screw was missing. I found this has happened to others indicating a QA problem existed. The S&W certified armorer spoke to me on the 7th noting it was ordered and another customer had the same issue. After contacting the armorer several times and being assured the screw was due in shortly according to S&W, I then sent a message to S&W. Their reply was so obvious that they did not read the message and asked for a shipping number. I then called on the 23 and was told no order was placed, I saw the email traffic so maybe the order was in the armorer's name and not the store. They said they would send me the screw. As of the 29th I still do not have the screw. My opportunities to shoot the gun have dwindled due to other priorities and waiting for this magic screw. I could have installed the fixed sight but that is not why I bought the gun. So far I am considering trying to my money back, not one round has been run through it. I never expected to have to repair or finish assembling a firearm before I could use it.
So for those who are in a similar predicament; I went to ACE and bought a 3-48 flat head screw 1/4 inch long and now it is adjustable. Be careful not to loose the captured nut or the tiny compression spring when working on this.

That is why it is a good idea to really look the firearm over before purchasing.

Same thing happened to me on a new 63 purchase, side plate needed to be replaced, sharp edges. S&W took care of me in what I think was a timely manner, two weeks. I blame myself for not thoroughly looking the firearm over before purchase.

Good luck.

Default UPDATE

Yes checking over is a good practice. However there is no reason for this to happen to several customers.
I finally received the promised screw on the 31st. Didn't have time for a few days to install. During install I could not find a gunsmiths screwdriver that fit the screw. Upon closer inspection the the slot was only about 0.002" deep if that. ( I looked over similar SW22's at another gun shop and the screws had a better defined slot for adjustments). I did manage to install it and set the sight using my laser bore sighter. No time to fire the gun anytime soon. This had to be a reject and sent to just apease me. The armorer still has not received the screws he ordered. I am glad others have had good customer rerlations, mine is terrible. I guess I need to make another phone call or email and maybe I can have the gun working using the correct parts before Christmas.

Sorry to hear you had issues. I thought the Victories (early) issues had been resolved. Hopefully, S&W makes it right soon.
Not sure if this applies but in many states where guns get registered at purchase, you can't get your money back on a firearm if/once it's registered in your name. It then becomes a used firearm and it takes a buy back to remove it from your name.
That said, the store that sold it to you might offer to take the screw/sight from another Victory and make it good. I know the shop I work at would.

Another update.........I finally received the re-re-placement screw. Installed and went to range. Used CCI Mini Mag and Winchester M22 ammo for first shots. Three rounds and a dead trigger. Removed live round, replaced mag, one shot and dead trigger. Switched ammo and same results. So less then 20 rounds total and it's an expensive paperweight. Called S&W on 9/17, received shipping label and no sympathy from operator...very cold. Said it would take 4 weeks to get it back. I was tempted to tell them Springfield takes one week on quality issues, but refrained form that. Took four days from their receiving firearm to notify me they had it. Now the wait. I am not sure S&W will find another firearm in my safe. in the future. Not sure what their problem is, customer support can make or break a company.
