Roy Jinks’ 2214
Model 2213’s and 2214’s have become a divergence from my modern S&W revolver collecting. They are awesome little woods carry pieces, easy to tuck away amongst the iron herd, and an excellent suppressor platform. I had not forgotten about the recent acquisition and Historical letter request, only about sharing with the Forum group. It was not until Historical letter conversation with a Minnesota SWCA member today drifted to Roy Jinks and his service to the S&W collector community. It jogged my memory to get a few pictures posted before I inherit the earth. It will never have any rounds down range in my hands, but it certainly is an interesting piece of history from our historian to have in the collection!!

Very, VERY cool!!!
As a fan of the little Model 2214, I am extremely envious! My efforts to snag a pristine perfect ANIB Model 2214 went awry last month when someone else beat me to a top condition local example... right after I was finally able to snag a spare magazine for same at a little less than a king's ransom (a prerequisite requirement for the purchase to have been at all practical).
My day will come again I am sure. But high prices on that big firearms auction site mean I'll need a whole lot of good luck if it's gonna happen.

It raises some questions! First off, I will quickly admit that I don't know Roy's history with Smith & Wesson, but a 15-year Anniversary present in the early 90's has Roy working for Smith & Wesson since the mid-1970's... suppose I would have guessed earlier, or far earlier. (but what do I know...)
A bigger question is why the "Spec. Ord." date code here is out-of-normal from what we are used to seeing? The three digit julian date number appears to be listed first with the year at the end, opposite of what we've come to expect.
Interesting!

Good catch! Roy's own biography on the inside jacket of his famous book ("History of Smith & Wesson") talks about how he joined the S&W staff in 1970 and was a consultant to S&W before that. So how is it that he's getting his 15-year anniversary present in 1991?
Slow customer service maybe??? (Joke! Joke!)

Interesting!

Thought it was interesting that the end label we see, overlays another box end label. I'm unable to decipher the text behind it and do not have the stones to separate the two! Maybe it has the original product code of 107200, listed in the SWSC as 3" B 8SH FS AA? Where this product code 107201 is not listed (special order??) in the book.

Moedl 2214 Mags
Just spoke with S&W. they are discontinued and there are no more in stock. They said to call Jack First 605.343.9544 just to see if they turn up any. The NIB mag is available on Ebay for $110.

Didn't know that S&W discontinued these mags. Quick search confirms the scalpers at work with $100+ prices. I know I'm getting old when they stop making parts for my guns. Found out too late on Browning Auto-5 too.
