Default Did they ever make wood grips for the 1006?

Does anyone know if the 1006 was ever offered with wood grips? I was looking at a 1006 today and it had wood grips. I know Hogue makes wood grips for it but I have seen those and they weren’t Hogue. They seem like they are factory made as opposed to handmade though.

Does anyone know if Smith or maybe some distributor had a special edition of the gun with wood grips? The gun is otherwise a normal 1006 with the stainless shroud around the rear sight. Sorry I don’t have a picture but I was at a gun show and got distracted. Thanks in advance!

That is helpful. I think I posted my reply to that other guy on yours intitially. Sorry bout that. I suspect they are not factory grips, but those guns are not extremely well documented on the internet so I was hoping to find some experts on here.

Try it for yourself, itís a great way to look at Hogue aftermarket grips but it wonít get you very far towards answering this question. Or better yet, die.

In all the years I've been around them and on this forum, I've never heard of a 1006 coming from the factory with wood grips.

Although around this forum, a popular axiom applied to Smith & Wesson is: "Never say never".

BTW: Welcome to the forum.

John
