Default 1076 and 645 Questions

Is there any way to tell if a 1076 was one of the guns delivered to the FBI? I have serial # TFF9808.

I also just bought a 645 and it uses that miserable looking Phillips head screw on the right side of the ambi decocker. Can it be switched out to a hex or Stanley and if so, what's the size/threading?

You can call S&W & ask them. In general there was a serial number prefix that was mainly shipped to the FBI (TEUxxxx, IIRC?)

I have a TFF90xx & it's not an FBI issue. It still shoots great.

Like BLUEDOT37 said, ask Smith and Wesson

There is a visual difference between the 1076s intended for the Civilian market and those intended for the Government Market

The LEO guns had the front strap checkered while the Civilian guns just had it grooved.

Like all rules, there are exceptions so expect to find some examples in the opposite category

On my 645, both levers were switched to the 4506 levers. Bought it that way. Didn't bother me. GARY
