6906 trigger vs. CZ 75 compact w/decocker

Hello All,
Curious how these triggers compare. From what I understand of the CZ decocker system, the 1st trigger pull (after loading and decocking) will be with the hammer from the 1/2 cocked position (DA) and subsequent rounds will be with the hammer from the fully cocked position (SA). Is the 1/2 cocked trigger pull similar to a DA trigger on a TDA S&W or is it noticeably shorter/lighter? Also, can the hammer be manually lowered completely from the 1/2 cocked position and will the trigger function from there?
I guess I am just used to the S&W TDA system and not so sure about the 1/2 cocked position of the CZ. Thanks for your input.

CZ 75 P-01- Half cock trigger pull similar to S&W 3913 trigger pull from decock position. Yes, the hammer on the CZ can be lowered all the way, but when you pull the trigger, it stages and stops at half cock.
Trigger pull on the S&W 3913 noticeably heavier than the CZ in both SA and DA modes.

Thank you, do you find the CZ more accurate than the 3913? and do you think it is because of the better trigger pull or is the CZ just inherently more accurate?

That's a difficult question to answer. I do find the CZ more accurate BUT---I've had it for over 10 years- the S&W just a few weeks; The CZ is a double stack with a wider grip which fits my hand better than the S&W; The trigger pull on the CZ has been "smoothed out" from a LOT of shooting since I've had it; the CZ is a little heavier which gives me more accuracy since it's more stable. The CZ is now my target pistol, and the 3913 will become my CCW pistol. The S&W is very accurate out to 20 yards and is much more concealable than the CZ, which is why I bought it. One big advantage of the S&W over the CZ is the ease of disassembly for cleaning and repair (spring replacement, etc.). The S&W can be completely disassembled with very few tools. In order to disassemble the CZ, roll pins have to be removed, etc., so I've never attempted a disassembly. They are both EXCELLENT quality firearms which I will never sell. Each has it's own advantages and disadvantages.

Thanks again for the detailed reply. I started on 3rd gens in the early 90's and have owned or fired all the sizes of 9mm models. I feel very comfortable with the manual of arms of the TDA models. The CZ is interesting to me mostly because it is still in production and is almost universally well reviewed. I was considering going to the CZ and getting out of 3rd gens but there may not be enough advantage especially since my 3rd gens were acquired at very reasonable prices. I think a CZ will still be in my future, a side by side comparison would be ideal and help settle my mind. Thanks.

Hopefully, you can find a good used CZ at a gun show for a good price. I bought a pristine CZ 75 compact a couple of months ago for $400, so there are some deals out there. Good luck!

Sounds like I'm late but when I was looking for a smaller 9mm to be a new carry option one of the brands I sized up and shot the CZ75 compact with a safety so I could carry it cocked and locked and the lw decocker version ,, CDP or something like that and a Kimber stainless ultra 9mm was also in the rental group . I ended up buying a new Kimber ultra 9mm but I screwed up and let my wife shoot it and she claimed it as her new EDC benching her m&p9c .

So I was still looking for a small 9mm when I found a deal on a colt lw wc commander in 45 . Ok money gone so I went to the gun safe and pulled out my s&w 669 to see how it sized up again . The 6906 has better sights but if the rest of it is the same as mine I would buy the S&W . I had forgot how nice is was to shoot too . I really like the wide smooth radiused and very polished trigger over the CZ . With a round chambered I racked the slide back about a 1/4" back to set that trigger to a shorter DA pull . SA pull is real nice 3lb 4oz and for me lends it self the sweeping the trigger as the take up has 2lb 2oz of pressure to it so very little pressure is needed to fire when in SA mode when shooting quickly and if your a trigger rider the reset is nice and short and far better than a the stock cz's I have shot . So my small 9mm carry is the s&w 669 again , my edc is a p320compact 40 with thinner small grip module and I will carry the commander on occasion . All get carried in a comp-tac neutral in the same p250 compact hybrid holster as there were very few p320 holster at the time . I bought my old comp-tac iwb hybrid 15 years ago for a kahr and still use the leather half today .

Also the s&w 669 is more than accurate enough for its size and with some slow 150gr rn I loaded is capable of some very good groups for a 3.5" barrel , I understand how the s&w 38sp wadcutt pistol is still highly wanted .

I realize its a little larger but the BerettaFS92 is quite a 9MM pistol in its own right. Still kicking myself for selling the one I had as it was all tricked out with the best of Goodies in it. Trigger,hammer and rod and spring set with the wooden grips on it.

I think texasjarhead pretty much covered all. I picked up the light aluminum frame decocker version just a few months back, CZ75D Compact. The steel frame version has the manual safety, and also called a Compact.
The grip is ergo perfect for me, the gun points naturally, and holds 14+1. It’s a winner.

A 3rd Gen Smith fan since the early 1990s..... while CZs were still very hard to come by as the "Iron Curtain" had just fallen. By the time they became easily available..... I was heavily invested in S&Ws ... guns mags and holsters.

In the last 2 years I've picked up a 75B and a Kadet. Both are great guns.....I've always viewed them as an "improved" Browning HP.

If I was starting from scratch and had to chose between the 3rd Generation Smiths and the CZs.......probably go CZ because they are still in production.

But I'd want to get my hands on a couple of 3913s and NLs for every day concealed carry........ and some Performance Center autos from the 1990s
