Slide stops
The 41-1 slide stop has barely 3/32 of an inch notch in it for the 22 short ejection. The earliest slide stops for 22 LR had a very long notch, which was later changed to what is now used on 22LR.
I have found I don't need the 22 short slide stop on the 7 3/8 barrel. Since you have a longer barrel, you get a little more power on the ejection cycle.
You must however use the lighter spring. I would never shoot anything but 22 short target, as the aluminum slide will get hammered over time.
The 5 1/2 and 5 inch 22 short require the 22 Short slide stop.
Numerich sells unfinished slide stops, No notch has been cut in them, problem is you need to get the flat spring slot cut in, and it's quite thin. So conventional tools are of no use here. I have no idea why S&W Can't produce the finished slide stop with No notch in it at all, and let the people get there own notch cut in it. Seems if those stops are stamped and bent to shape prior to the notch being cut in, it should be quite simple to skip 1 operation. I have 4 of the 7 3/8 kit's and one 5 1/2 kit in 22 short. I recently sold my 5 inch 22 short kit, which is the only one I had ever seen for sale, I only know of one or two other people that own one and the price reflects it.
