Default My old S&W 22A with new grips

About 18 years ago my sons and I went shooting a lot together and I got a .22 l.r. semi auto for warm ups. Bricks of 550 Federal were $6.97 and saw an increase to $7.97 rapidly and we put a brick through the gun everytime we went to the range - and that was usually twice a week. We put over 110,000 rounds through it but it has been in the back of the safe for a decade now. I just found a set of Nills that I had bought used at a great price for it and installed them. Makes a big difference in getting a good grip on the gun and will hopefully bring this family treasure out to the range again, albeit it facing tough competition.

I went through four firing pins, the sight rib claw broke, the frame broke and the hammer spring needed changing; it was noticably shorter from use but the gun still can hold the black at 25 yards and is on the first issued magazines.S&W sent me all parts under warranty to fix it myself and they built a new frame with the same serial number when the frame cracked.

I have two Swiss Haemmerlis and a lot of other nice rimfire guns but my sons cherish this for the sake of the memories!

Nice looking grips on your 22A. I used to shoot mine a lot until the Great .22 Ammo Shortage of 2014-2017.

That is when we slowed down as well. I think it started even a few years before 2014, it at least feels like it. I used my Haemmerli 208 and 212 and my sons my Ruger MkII for accuracy while we used the 22A for fast & fun shooting. If you would shoot 110,000 rounds through the gun with today's ammo prices, it would be felt as a pain in the pocket.

Those Nil Grips look Great on that 22A. I put around 28,000 rounds thru mine while I owned it and it was a decent gun for the price. Those Haemmerli's look Great as well.

Looks great. Are those Mod 41 grips or did NILL make grips for the 22a?

Those grips look awesome on your 22A. I would say that this is about the biggest positive change I have ever seen by a grip change on a handgun.

It will never cease to amaze me how good a handgun can be made to look with the right furniture on it. That is Magnificently Beautiful with those grips on it.

Those were made for the S&W 22A specifically. I have Nills on a lot of my guns and really like most of them but by far not all of them! The quality is generally very, very good.
