Default So I walk back into Kittery trading Post…

Attempting to pick up a model 909 which someone seems to have wanted more than I did. While I was there I noticed a model 3914NL just sitting on the shelf looking sad and lonely. For a meager $405 I brought it and three magazines home. How did I do?

Right now I have to pick up a new couch.
Finish is nowhere near perfect.

Congrats! Nice score on one of the scarcer variants of the 39XX series.

The most desireable of the 3914s too. IMHO. Enjoy that fine nine! Regards 18DAI

I think you did just fine. $405 would be on the low end for that gun especially with 3 mags. The finish also just fine so you aren't tempted to not shoot it! Looks a lot better than most you will find at that price range if you find them at all. 3914NL's aren't that common.

Found this inside the frame. Is this meant to be June of 2013? No way right? Or is it an assembly number: 20136?

Maybe it's the S&W part number for the frame.

IF YOU LIKE THE PISTOL, YOU DID FINE ! ! !

COINCIDENTALLY, KITTERY TRADING POST WAS MY DUMPING GROUND FOR GUNS THAT I COULD NOT SELL ANYWHERE ELSE. NOTABLY, THERE WERE 3 TAURUS REVOLVERS, THAT I PURCHASED BRAND NEW, THAT WERE PURE JUNK---AND THAT NOBODY WANTED, NOT EVEN ON THE TAURUS FORUM ! ! !

This is what it looks like now. Not one to waste time, I detail stripped the whole thing, removed the mag disconnect, shot the parts with carb cleaner, then scrubbed everything with CLP, reassembled. Function check, wipe down with mineral spirits, wax with Johnsons paste floor wax, and here it is, ready for live-fire test before it goes in my holster.

Bought a NIB with three mags 3913 2 years ago for $525 in VA before coming up here, and I was thrilled with that price and pistol, but this one is really cool. I can confidently report that the LS/NL frame fits perfectly in Sig 239 leather.

Op:

You did great! I really like the 3913/3914 pistols. May I suggest a new factory grip, not that the one on it is not completely serviceable, but a new grip on a used 3rd Gen enhances the appearance dramatically, IMHO.

Brownell's is out of stock at present, but is allowing back orders here: Grip : SMITH & WESSON GRIP | Brownells

You did good. Kittery generally doesn't have the friendly pricing policy that they used too .

The 3914NL is a much better gun.

Here in Canada you would have paid at least double that price for that gun. Yes you did very well on this purchase. Its always nice when somebody scores a great gun for little money. Good for You.

I am really jealous. Not just of the price which was great. But I have been looking for one for several years. It's very elusive for me. It is the last 39xx I need to have a complete set of Blued Model 39s 39xs and 39xxs. I just cant seem to complete the set. Excellent find and good training on buying the best gun available (my philosophy). It's not always the gun you went out to buy. Congrats!

You did great!!! The going rate where I'm at is around $550, usually with only one magazine.
