Model 41 with a field barrel
Going to take a look at a Model 41 with a field barrel in the box with 2 magazines. I am told the gun is in really good condition. My question is did S&W ship Model 41’s with a field barrel or were they only sold as an accessory?
Also if it was shipped from the factory in this configuration what would it bring? (I know this is hard without pictures)

It would be easier if we knew the serial NO. so we could determine the vintage of this particular gun Condition and so forth. 2 Mags is a good start but you will need more over time. Yes pics would be helpful in order to be fair with your answer on Value of it. Personally I believe they did ship with those Barrels from the factory as the stock either 73/8th barrel or 7 " barrel is usually with them in the kit.

I don’t have the S/N unfortunately but there is no other barrel with the package.

If it has the box the end label should show barrel length/type

It shipped as five incher, just as you see it.
Personally, I'm seeing "good condition" not "really good condition".
I'd be a buyer at a max of 800.

I see questions like this all the time on the board. Refer to Gun Broker, the Blue book, or SCSW 4, it's unlikely they will agree, but you will have a set of numbers to compare to the asking price. Does it fill a hole in your collection, do you see this model frequently? What its worth is what you and the seller agree upon.

Thats the way this gun came from the factory. It appears to be in very good condition. To me a fair value would be around $800.--$850.00

I think the estimates in value are on the low side, a resonably decent field barrel will sell for over 400 dollars every time on e-bay and the box says it is a field barrel gun which you don't see very often and would sell for a good amount of money on ebay as well. I would bet you are looking at a 1100-1400 dollar gun. As for condition it looks like you have a lot of oil on the gun, if it is rust or pitting than the value does drop. Of course my opinion and 5 bucks will get you a fancy coffee at Starbucks.

ULTIMATELY THAT PARTICULAR GUN'S TRUE MARKET VALUE, WILL BE WHAT THE HIGHEST BIDDER PAID FOR IT ON THE DAY IT IS SOLD....
IMHO, IT IS SCARCE, AND IN AN ATTRACTIVE ORIGINAL PACKAGE. IT APPEARS TO BE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. I COULD IMAGINE IT FETCHING $1,000. OR A BIT MORE ON GUNBROKER.....
I WOULD CONSIDER $800-$850. AS BANTERED ABOUT ON THIS THREAD, TO BE A STEAL.....

Yes that is how I like to buy. Steal them for a legal low price. Yes I am a skinflint as well.
