I also have a ASP I picked up at a local Pawn Shop for 275.00 the shop owner told me he thought someone cut up Smith & Wesson 39-2. I'll post pictures of it later.

I recall reading about ASP conversions of S&W pistols back in the 80's. Always thought they would have looked good in the hands of a certain Commander James Bond. Not as classic as the PPK but practical for a tux.

As for the 1076, I like it.

When John Gardiner started to write James Bond books with permission, James DID carry an ASP, with Glaser Safety Slugs.

Well that adds a significant amount to the value, I believe it's around $800 or so isn't it? Not sure, but I know its quite a bit. Nice.

Can anyone tell me what the stocks on the OP’s 1076 are called and maybe the factory part number. I’d like to try to run down one of those for my 1076.

That’s a great looking 1076. Assume you just got it - or the letter. Congratulations!

The 10xx/45xx family of firearms had three different grips that I can recall:
Straight back strap grip
Curved back strap grip
Palm swell grip

The Palm swell grip is what the FBI contract specified on their 1076s

The image in the original post looks like the standard curved back strap grip (hard to be positive with only the one image). This is the one that the 45xx family began shipping with but I do not know the part number, sorry

Yes but isn't the 1076 grip specific only to the Sig-style manual thumb-decock models 1076 and 1026? Is it merely a palm-swell to clear some real estate for the Sig-style lever to swing?

Frame decock models require a grip with a clearance for the the decock lever.

Otherwise, they are the same as the respective model grips they replace.

The palm swell is just for ergonomics.

It doesn't provide a clearance for any mechanism.

Would it be possible to take a 1076 or a 1026 and use a regular straight back 4506 grip -- and carefully trim out a working area for the Sig-style decock lever?

I find the palm-swell grip to be less than attractive, I've also never cared for the feel of a palm-swell.

It might be possible to modify a 4506/1006 grip to fit a frame decock model, but it would be easier to source a 1076/1026/4576/4526 frame decock straight or curved back grip.

I trimmed a Hogue rubber grip (from a 1006 I used to own) to fit my 1076. It was pretty simple. No pics on this phone yet, sorry.

I found this older post on the 3 S&W grips offered for the 10 series... The hardest ones to find are the FBI palm swell.. Curved and straight grips are available from several sources..

I believe all factory 1076 grips have been discontinued by S&W. Here are the part numbers for your search - 203630000 GRIP, CURVED 203650000 GRIP, STRAIGHT 205000000 GRIP, PALM SWELL ...
