Question 3914LS Price Check

Not seeing these on GB completed auctions. Looking at one, gun with one mag, ex+ condition. Is $500 too much to pay?

No. $500 seems about right. Perhaps a bit low for California.

I paid $650 for my 3913LS.

Saw that in my copy. Figured that info was getting close to four years old now, (lead time before being published, published 2016, etc.) so a quick holler here might get some more real time input.

Thanks again for the replies.

Are mags difficult to find, expensive? I presume anything that fits a 3913 fits a 3914 as well?

Stopped back by today and looked it over again. Can get it for $400+ tax so figure $420 give or take. I did find that I'm not liking the backstrap. Those factory stocks are pretty slippery. Really don't want to buy something and have to start putting money into it but if the end result is worth it it's not a road I haven't traveled before.

Any suggestions on alternative stocks? Also I ran across a like new 910S for about $20 more. It's not a single stack and it's a 4"bbl not 3.5" but given the similar price which would make the better carry gun?

You can get a Houge slip on if you like comfortable and ugly, Houge wood or rubber grips if you need to bulk them up a bit, or KSD grips (from Turkey) which is the direction I went. I also put a spurred hammer on mine. Waiting to have night sights installed.

I have also used carefully cut rubberized grip tape on them to get the slipperiness out of the stock grips but retains the stock grip slim feel

Forget the 910s. Not in the same ballpark as the 3914. For that price the 3914LS is a steal, and if you don't like the grips use tape like I have done on mine. Works great. 3M Safety Tread (skateboard) tape is at your local hardware store and is cheap.

I had a 3913 and 3914. They were slightly larger than I wanted to carry and sa/da so I sold them. I finally found a 3953tsw pre-rail which checked all the right boxes for me.

As for the grip issue, I sent the factory grips to vcd and had him texture the back and sides. Now Iíve got to do the same with my 3953 grips once I find a second set.

In addition to the excellent suggestions above, a rubber grip sleeve over the OEM grip of the 3914NL works very well, for me.

It does not hurt the ease of concealment, yet anchors the gun in your hand during firing. I have that set up on my 3914NL.

Sadly, your only choices with the S&W 39XX series grip are to modify the OEM Delrin grip or mount a Hogue rubber or wooden grip.

I wish Hogue would make some nice G10 or Aluminum grips for the 3rd gen guns like they do for the Sig pistols. Regards 18DAI

Numrich had the pre rail 3913/3953 grips for short money. I haven't checked in a while, but they are probably not a fast seller.

Who is vcd? I might want to get my pre rail grips done up that way.

Oh, to the OP, buy that 3914NL. Even if you end up not liking it, you'll be able to sell it. I paid $425.00 + tax for one with two magazines about 7 years ago. I thought that was a bargain.

I'd be one prospective buyer.

Any 3913/3914 for $400 is a great price in ex condition. If you try and wait for a better price down the road, you could be waiting a long time. If you're wanting a 3rd gen then I'd say go for it at that price. Better deals could come along eventually, but I wouldn't base my decision on a "could".
