Default 6904

Just picked up a 9604 for $300. Was this reasonable?

I would say very reasonable. That's an early pistol and was subject to a grip recall - make sure the grip has a dimple on the bottom. If not, S&W owes you an updated grip.

You did very well.

I got one from a fellow forum member a while back. It's the later version with the round trigger guard and Novak sights.

After a few range sessions you'll think you got the bargain of the year! I love mine (a 6906) and it shoots like a gun that costs twice at you paid.

I paid about half what you paid. Mine came with four mags and a little more holster wear than yours.

But then again I bought mine in 1999.

Today my 6904 has significant blue/black loss from years of carry, but it still shoots like a house on fire. Just make sure you keep up with spring replacement.

I see them (6904/6906's) occasionally at gun shows. Most times they are priced in the $400-$450 range and selling for around $350-$400 with one mag.

BTW, my 6904 is my only "Dark Side" 3rd Gen S&W semi auto.

I think you did fine at $300 for a very good condition 6904.

I contacted S&W by email on 9/30/18, sent them a pic of the serial number and the bottom of the grip. Today, 10/4/18, I received replacement grip and grip pin today. Talk about quick turn-around.very pleased.

Great buy!!! I used to have a 6906, and still regret selling it.
