Model 469, what do i have?
sorry no pictures available, for some reason my computer won't recognize my camera hook up so i can not load pics.
i've had a 2 tone model 469, blue slide, silver frame, spur hammer. no box so i don't have or know it's product code.
i knew it was unique when i bought it a year ago but now i'm thinking of selling it and i need an idea of what it really is and it's value.
i've seen all blue and also satin nickel 469s but never a 2tone model.
also i was under the impression that all 469s had a bobbed hammer.
i've seen standard all blue 469s in lesser condition for sale locally in the $500. price range.
my questions are...
how rare/unique is 2 tone with spur hammer 469?
approx production numbers?
condition is 98/99%, what's it worth on the open market?
thanks for any help.

If you have a cell phone camera you can take pictures an email them to yourself to get them onto your computer.
Posting the SN (with the last 3 digits replaced by "x"s) might be helpful also.

Rule #1 with S&W is always going to be "anything is possible", but when we have a mystery with very few ways of digging deeper, we are usually best served by the path of least resistance. That means... what is most likely. I would say most likely is that someone had a 669 slide and put it on a 469 frame. Or, someone dura-coated or otherwise gun painted your slide.
As for the hammer, I agree that I THINK they only ever came with bobbed hammers, so again... most likely is that someone swapped it out for the hammer you have.
You could try and call S&W with the serial number and see what they tell you, but I doubt you'll get far. You could request a letter, but that would be an expensive way to find out maybe very little.
Furthermore, if the gun isn't really close to mint (and original box is a big help!) then regardless of it being odd... it's just not worth a heap on the open market. It certainly isn't worthless, I just don't think it's likely (at all!) that it is some kind of humdinger that would generate a huge, high dollar sale.
If it's fully functional and runs well, in my opinion, it's a $300 gun, give or take.

Okay, I read the colors wrong and swapped. The black is 469 and the silver was 669. If the frame is light in color AND stamped 469, I'm definitely going to guess that it's dura-coated or otherwise some aftermarket color job. If it is actually marked 669, that would be the correct color alloy frame.
High condition is nice! End label would be so helpful!

The frame coating wasn't particularly durable and would wear down to bare metal. My original issue 469 wore a lot along the dust cover and rear of frame down to shiny metal. It's most likely that someone had such a worn 469 and stripped the finish from the frame leaving the bare, shiny alloy. I've seen 2 or 3 police trade in guns done that way.
The spur hammer also leads me to believe someone changed out the hammer. Again, not an unusual modification. When we were issuing the 459 and 469 quite a few of our range officers did the hammer swap out on 469s.

Sounds like a "FrankenSmith".......... I have a couple I've built.
First is a 6904 with it's frame Cerakoted a matt stainless (because of a bad case of what I call "ring rash" on it's 3rd Gen grip frame). and a spurred hammer.
Second is a "6915"...... 6906 frame with a spurred hammer mated with a 915 4" barrel/slide and single sided safety. Kind of a 9mm Smith "CCO"* (concealed carry officers model) .....
* Footnote: Since the late 1980s Colt (and a few others) made/make what they called a " 1911 CCO model" combining a short Officers model frame mated to a Commander length barrel and slide. IMHO it's the perfect concealed carry 1911 w/ Wilson Combat compact 7rd magazines.

I'm wit Sevens.
At the risk of sounding pompous, according to my latest inventory completed just last week I've nine 469s, and that doesn't include a 4690 RSR also on hand.
The 469 though 669 and, later, 6906 and 6904, is among my favorite models. It's also an example of what "collecting" does to the minds and souls of otherwise simple men.
It's not really necessary to repeat Sevens' POV, but I reiterate it.
