3914 dark finish mags vs stainless finish
Hi folks... looking at a 3914 with box/papers and only 1 black (melonite?) magazine... LNIB or close to it I see many 3914s that have at least 2 or these dark finish mags. Are they hard to come by or that important to the correctness of this pistol? Should I pass on it for another in similar condition with 2 or more dark mags, albeit with an appropriate price adjustment for the number of mags included. I see the stainless finish mags are still available... I am sure both will work... but if it originally came with 2 dark mags....?
Thanks a bunch—KF

Are you buying as a collector or a shooter? If a shooter, it doesn't make any difference. If a collector, it might.
They aren't Melonite, just painted black. I have a few that I've accumulated over the years since I bought a 3914NL. I use them interchangeably with the stainless ones.

I had a NIB 3914. Factory fresh. It had one blue mag and one stainless. From the factory. Regards 18DAI

Wow... thank you both for your responses... sounds like a non-issue, particularly per the 1 painted/1 stainless as NIB.

Pretty sure both mags are blued, but will have to check.

it occurred to me that it might just be luck of the draw when it came to magazines. Whatever was in the magazine bin was what went into most of the guns.
My pre rail 3953TSW came with two magazines with the wedge shaped base plate. Yet, I've seen other picture of early TSWs with one wedge base and one hooked base as used on the eight round magazines.

The 3914 (mfd. Oct-1989) that I bought NIB had two black mags.
The factory new 3914DAO (mfd. Jun-2015) that I bought had two silver mags.
Somewhere along the 26 year line they gave up on black mags.

I bought my 1994 Model 3914 used (no box), so I can't be certain that the original magazines weren't switched with newer ones... but both magazines it came with were silver.
