Have a quantity of older S&W magazines, with different colored followers, i.e., black, yellow, orange, red. Both large cap and limited 10 rounders.

Is there any site where I can go to find out what models they go to?

I agree, that the membership right here would enjoy testing their witts against one another, with you (and others) as the beneficiary. Place them on a poster board or number them with tape and see what happens. Might find a home for some that way as well.

When taking photos of the magazines, make sure to include a ruler or some other measuring device so the sizes can be seen. Try to see how the different calibers of ammo fit in each magazine and then mark the magazine with the caliber of ammo which best fits into the magazine. If there are any marking or stamps on the mags. show them too. Provide as much information as possible.

Most of the magazines that fit the S&W metal framed 1-2-3rd Gen "numbered series" pistols have the caliber marked on the magazine somewhere.

If it is a slender single stack 9mm magazine that holds 8rds and has a metal floor plate it is likely a 39/39-2 mag, also fits the 439/539/639. If it has plastic floor plate and holds 8, it is a very early 3906/3904 mag. More common is the same mag with red follower holding 9rds, that is the typical 3906/3904/909/952 magazine.

If it is a typical 9mm double stack mag with metal floor plate holding 14rds with black follower, it's a 59/459/559/659 mag. With plastic floor plate holidng 15 with orange follower, it's a 5906 and all variants mag. There was also a 10rd limit mag of same external dimensions shipped from 94-2004.

If it's a .40cal double stack mag holding 12rds, it probably has a yellow or blue follower, fits all the 4006 and variants.

If it is a single stack .45 mag that holds 8 and has metal floor plate and metal follower or orange follower, it's a 645/745 mag, also works in 4506. The later 4506 mag has basically the same body but a plastic floor plate and likely a yellow or black follower. The 945 mag is clearly marked "945 only" but looks very nearly the same.

If it is single stack and 9rds capacity, it will be marked 10mm and it'll have either yellow or white follower, it fits the six models of 1006 & variants.
There are others for the compact pistols but that's the bulk of the full size.

It is not that I don't post pictures, I do not have the skill and/or expertise to do same. Age does that to the 1946 baby boomers. The bulk of the magazines are pre-ban large capacity, stainless steel, for models no longer made.

Got a friend or a younger relative who could help you with posting pics? Lots of people on here looking for magazines. You wouldn't have much trouble selling them.

I'll buy any 12rd mags that fit a 6906 or any 69xx - all are pre-1994, so I am aware of age and wear, but it seems Wolff still make springs for them.

All 12-round 6906 mags are not pre-1994, there are lots of Crime Bill era LE-marked 12rd magazines floating around.
