Question 4536 Reassembly Issue

Hello. Took my 4536 apart for a cleaning and now having a real problem getting it back together. The slide goes on the frame and I press the ejector and the other little blade thats near the hammer down but the slide won't go back the last 1/3 inch. Tried with the recoil spring out, hammer cocked, uncocked. It won't slide that last bit where the recoil spring catches on the frame and you compress the slide to reinsert the slide stop pin. What am I overlooking?

Try getting an ice cream stick or a dowel and depressing all three levers with it as you push the slide on the frame.

Sometimes its hard to tell, visually, that all three levers.......or two in the DAO models?.....are not fully depressed. When that happens the situation you describe ensues. Good luck! Hope this helps! Regards 18DAI

It appears the polymer detent in the slide has lost one side and creates a hang. Gonna likely take it to the gunshop and let them press the rear sight off and order a replacement from Numrich.

IF I am not mistaken one side works the mag disconnect. IF this is the one you can remove it and the gun will fire without a magazine and you won't need to repair it. I would still try and get the part just to have it on hand.

This is the polymer detent that depresses the ejector. I managed to put the pistol back together by giving the muzzle a firm but not overbearing slap with my hand. Doing so trenched the detent and the pistol assembles easily, but I'm concerned that the ejector isn't being depressed during operation as it should be.
