Default Speaking of rare issue Melonite guns

Here's one in this thread.
Since I originally posted this the quantity of these DAO pieces has drifted up to 7 made.

Enjoy

Very nice 5946.. I linked to the thread and started reading it. Eventually I realized I had been transported back a decade. It took me a few minutes to realize I was in a thread within a thread..a 60's moment for sure!
My LGS has a 4046 for sale for $150 . I am been really considering the advantages of carry a DAO semi auto lately. I already do that with my 649 and 642 pocket guns. I find when I shoot DAO I am as accurate although a bit slower than with a DA/SA pistol. There is less to go wrong with them and from a legal standpoint they are the best scenario. (Not at all my primary concren but it on on the list)

Wow! I'm not at all looking to build up my old 3rd gen collection but if I happen across any model for $150 and it's not a disaster, I'd scoop it up. I'd run back and grab that for $150 easily. Gun shops in my area would keep a 4046 at $400-450 and let you talk them down to $350 maybe...if they hadn't sold anything for a while..

And for the OP and the Melonite 5946 pictured at the top of the linked thread - wow! that's easily one of the best looking Smith Auto's I've seen - it just looks right.

Always learn something here if I am not careful. Today it is even one of my favorite S&W topics, the 59 series. Interesting firearm though I have expectedly yet to spot one in my LGS. Thank you for posting.
