S&W 5906TSW questions. This one seems to be different.

It appears the "SMITH & WESSON" stamping on the left side of the slide has also been omitted or obliterated. Although very well done, I don't think those serrations were applied at the factory.

At $400, yes I made the decision in about a minute to buy it.
I also got lucky last month and got a mint condition 5906TSW in its matching serialized box with all the accessories/paperwork for just $700.
After searching for a decent deal for a 5906TSW for a few years I am quite satisfied with what I have now.

Looks like somebody may have used it for some idpa or ??? Given the front serrations amd extended slide release...
At 400 I would have hurt something trying to get my wallet out so fast .... even on the other one...

I believe that is an Ed Brown slide stop.

It sure could be an Ed Brown extended slide stop.
I have some.
Then again, a few years ago, a Forum member (bad_man_one?) was selling re-welded and extended S&W slide stops, so maybe it is one of those?

I would think that those front serrations are aftermarket as well, the few factory ones I have seen do not extend so far down the slide. There was a 4516-2 that sold on Gunbroker a few months ago with very similar front serrations that were listed as an aftermarket job, along with the extended slide release and oversized mag button (IIRC).

Yep you remembered correct about that 4516-2.
I also bought a bunch of those extended Ed Brown offerings “back then” and had them on a few of mine, (45, 9mm single and double stack.) Only the 645 has them on now though cause it only goes to the range and I really like that “vintage” look.
I suppose I should find a new home for the other’s cause I will NEVER put them back on ANYTHING I have again.

TG, you may very well be correct, but you never know when the chips are flying on Roosevelt Ave., who might be the beneficiary.
I currently own this 5906 slide, formerly belonging to an employee of S&W who wrote about it in these pages.
And as you can see, they were not afraid to try new patterns of serrations.

That's also an Ed Brown safety lever.
Got some, too.

The TSW's, at least mine, the markings on the slide are laser marked and they just appear to blacken the stainless. They would probably be obliterated easily by glass bead blasting the slide surface.

Holy cow, talk about some serrations! That is definitely a unique slide, though I think I like the safety lever mod the best. That actually looks very practical.
Proof that you can never say never with what may have come from the S&W factory; though, as armorer951 mentioned, the absence of any factory marking on the OP's slide would still have me leaning towards an aftermarket job in this case.

I don’t know about that. Looks professionally done to me at correct angle and depth. But would have to be holding to give a real opinion/valuation.

Very unique!
Both slide and lever were tested at S&W and for the want of an affirmative corporate decision, our beloved 3rd gens would have been sporting those serrations ans safety levers.
You can read about the genesis of this one-of-a-kind slide and lever at the following links:
Factory Experimental 5906 Slide
Factory Experimental 5906 Lever
