Default Dry firing my S&W 380 BG. Why do not have to rack each time?

When I dry fire my 9MM Shield i have to rack every time before firing but do not on my 380 BG. Why is this?

Because your Shield uses a pre-cocked striker and your BG380 is a hammer-fired double action pistol. It'd be time well spent reviewing the manuals for both.
