Default S-W 41 - Performance Center - Red Dot Recommendations

I have a Ultra-Dot Match Dot II - but the electronics package (the big part in the middle - is so long, I cannot mount it to the shorter rail that comes with the PC barrel. There is a clearance issue between the front tube on the sight, and the higher front sight.

I use this pistol for precision target shooting.

Is there a reflex type sight folks have used with the PC barrel / sights? I'm thinking there's a little higher version that might allow for co-witnessing.

Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

You can easily mount your MDII using both mounts forward of the mid section, or if you prefer a single mount forward will do nicely. I prefer both mounts forward myself. All of my MDII's are mounted this way. I use both the rings that come with the MDII in some cases and after market scope mounts in others. Depends on how much weight I want.

This should solve your problem. bob

PS a nice substitute is the Holosun 403 or 503 depending on which configuration suits you. I have several 403's on rim fire hand guns and sometimes prefer them over the MDII's. Depends more on ambient light than anything.

I used a cantilevered mount for my Ultradot on my M41-PC.

A bit "chunky" but works a treat.
It is also "hollow" underneath, allowing the iron sights to be viewed for those times when the dot goes out ! (notice the green fibre-optic front sight)

I'm looking at getting a Vortex Venom 3MOA for my Model 41 with attached rail.

This is a Burris FF3 mounted on a BME base on the 7" barrel that I cut down to 5". Works for me.

I also tried it with an Ultradot reflex but I liked the Aimpoint better.

I like that base setup, do you use that for shooting, for just for display? I can I got about something like that for sighting in, etc.?

Thank you all for sharing your experience, that is exactly what I was looking for!

Quick update, I tried the cantilever mount option, with two rings, and with the Vortex cantilever mount (looked pretty badass to me). I had difficulty holding zero with both options, and was a little uncomfortable with the setup (weight, etc.).

Sooo, I went with Burris FF3 - light, compact, sturdy, is holding zero well so far, good sight picture (a little harder to pickup than the UDII due to the smaller lens).

That is a folding rest I use to sight in my 41. There are more pictures of it in a prior post somewhere on the forum.

It appears that you've solved your issue but, I'll post this for reference. I have an UltraDot mounted on a Weaver base that's been working well for me for many years.

Another high quality, low cost option is the small, lightweight, Bushnell Trophy TRS-25. I have it mounted on a couple of pistols and really like it's smaller 3 M.O.A. dot. I've included a photo of one mounted on an old, Browning Challenger.

I have tried a Bushnell pistol scope a few years back. It made the 41 a Bit heavy for my hands and Balance so I went back to the open sights. I know for sure its me hitting the Bullseye everytime with Open sights. No scope for a aid.
