Default 5924

Can anyone fill me (us) in on the M5924 and other decocker 3rd. Generation pistols?
Are they serviceable, collectable or not worth bothering with? I see there was at least one recall regarding the decocking mechanism and also that they were only cataloged for one year. I have a line on a 5924 and I'm not sure if I should pull the trigger (Sorry...)
Thanks in advance.
