Default Hammer vs frame on 5904 during takedown

Took my new to me 5904 apart for the first time and noticed this. I know in the manual it says it is normal for the hammer to decock as you pull the slide forward. I’m surprised smith allows this as you have a steel component slamming against an alloy frame. I now ride the hammer down knowing it does this. Figured I’d share that it probably isn’t good for that hammer to keep striking that part of the frame

Does anyone else’s alloy 3rd gen have similar marks?

The hammer striking the receiver during take down always bugged me too, so I ride the hammer with my thumb during take down. I'd say the previous owner of your Model 5904 did not care so much. As long as the receiver is not cracked, it should be fine.
