Anyone have one of these? How do you like it? Is this the S&W version of the PK380 Walther? Same issues as the Walther PK380?

Designed to be easy to operate for anyone with hand strength difficulty, it has been trouble free for my wife who has MS. I don't know anything about the Walther.

Agree with previous comment on ease of use. I had one issue on my first magazine, but I think rounds were not seated properly. Flawless since then. I like it and may look at the EZ in 9mm.

Bob - you aren't quite in the correct sub-forum. Lotsa comments in this thread about stovepiping live rounds on earlier versions. A friend of mine recently bought a DEC 19 assembled version (the box label has a date on it) and has had zero issues with it. I'm planning to drive down to the same seller today and pick one up, as he had a lot of them in stock a few days ago... I was with him when he bought his and I was impressed with the fit and finish given that it was selling for $339.

380 ez just wondering

We have used a couple of different Shield EZ380s in our basic pistol class. Both required 20-30 rounds of break in before becoming totally reliable.

I don't know about Walther PK380 issues. You obviously know it is marketed to the same demographic as the Shield, people with limited hand strength.

The local range has one as a rental gun, I shot it and really liked it. I don't have strength or dexterity issues (yet), it was just a fun little gun.
It handles almost identically to my wife's M&P 22 compact, except more recoil.
I think I'm going to try the 9mm EZ when it shows up as a rental.

My wife loves hers. We have just over 500 rounds down range and have had no issues.

BG 380,Shield 9 & Mossburg 500

Not sure which Sub-Forum I should have posted in, but thanks for all the comments. I had heard about issue, which I now understand were from early manufactured pieces. I like DA/SA guns like the Walther PPKs and the Walther PK3980, but have seen terrible reviews of the PK380. Since it looks like the Shield, but without the grip safety and internal hammer, I was wondering if it was an extension of when Smith was manufacturing Walther's under license. Looking at the required take down tool for the Walther and the lack of a grip safety, I guess they only look a little alike.

Went to a local gun shop and looked at a bunch of .380s. Was waited on by a supposed knowledgeable guy who told me to get the Smith over the Walther as he only like Striker Fired semi-automatic pistol. I had to correct him that the Smith is a Hammer Gun, just the hammer is internal. He didn't believe me until he took it down and had to apologize.

Was able to rent one at a Long Island Range. Will have one for my girl friend on Tuesday. (My Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday Girl Friends don't shoot! :-)

I bought a S/S New Manufacture PPK/s for myself.

My wife has one and loves it. With her arthritis, it is easy to rack. Now they make one in 9mm. Might consider one and sell the 380.

My wife has had a PK380 almost since they were introduced, mainly for the ease of operating the slide. It has always functioned 100%, but is dreadfully inaccurate. It's a real pain to clean, getting the recoil spring back in place is almost impossible for me. It lives in the bottom of the safe now, and she happily shoots a Model 15-2, although not as a carry weapon.

Might be worth looking at the EZ 380 now that the bugs are worked out, or the new EZ 9 after that has a few months of user testing.

Well I purchased a Shield 380 EZ and it goes on my pistol permit later this morning. I got one of the Promo Specials that comes with the Range Kit as it will be a training gun for my significant other and when she gets her pistol permit, it will become hers. The gun is supplied in a Blue Corrugated Box inside the Range Kit Promo master box, so no Blue Plastic Hard Case, which I do not care about or need as it will end up a new storage case with all the clips and my data record book for it. I just wondered how old it might be and just posted the serial number on the thread regarding Factory Shipping Date. I couldn't find a way to check date on the Smith & Wesson web site, but did see the safety alert on the Manual Safety and when I put in my Serial number it said it wasn't one that needed to be modified, so I ASSUME it is reasonably late manufacture even though it has the old fashion box, which might just be the way the Range Kit is packaged as the kit includes a tactical case. I will shoot it today or tomorrow and have boxes of 5 different Make and Type .380 ACP rounds to test fire.

The 380 EZ is my first gun and I love it. I bought it because, after trying to rack several guns with great difficulty, I was able to rack this gun the first time. I feel really comfortable that I would be able to use the gun in an emergency situation. We had some problems with our first two magazines but I've since learned that springs in new magazines may be a little stiff. Someone suggested that I load and unload bullets multiple times to loosen up the springs in any future magazines. Just yesterday I got 2 new magazines and we did just that. When I took the gun to the range today, the old and new magazines worked flawlessless. I am by all accounts a senior citizen and the gun is perfect for me.

Got a .380 M&P EZ off Gun-buyer last spring for a steal! 319.00! It's basically S&W's version of the Little Old Colt 1908. Single action, good trigger, grip safety, hammer fired. Locked breach.
Not a bad little gun for the price! I have like 5 or six different .380's. Browning BDA, Walther PPK, Sig 238, CZ 83, Husqvarna m/1907 in .380 and it's original caliber, 9 Browning Long. Colt 1908 .380. I shoot a lot of .380!





Shoots cast lead HP's just fine!
