Found a 1006 in a pawn shop
I saw it there 2 weeks ago, but the $800 price was a little too much since there was only one mag, no box, and it's scuffed up a bit....but it is mechanically solid and well maintained.
It was still there today. I looked it over again, threw an offer at 'em and they accepted the deal. I'll have it in 3 days. The scuffs will be nothing for the Scotchbrite pad, but it will be used so it doesn't have to look too pretty.
I had a 1006 with the adjustable rear sights at one time. It was a nice piece, but someone really wanted it and I passed it along. I held onto some spare mags since i was back in the hunt for any 10XX, preferably with the Novak sights.

It does not look too bad.
Anyway you have it, a great piece to be sure. I am fortunate enough to have two of them. I wish triple-K or somebody would step up to the plate and start making after market magazines for them. I am fortunate enough to have eleven magazines between my two 1006s and my 1066. They will hold me for a while. But you can not have too many mags.

Very nice find. Between you, your kids and grandkids you will never wear out that pistol. I have a 1066 and various other 10mm's. The Smith is the best. Have fun and reload.

I think that was a great find. I don’t have any 10mm’s at all, (and have just “expanded to .40’s )” but that would have been hard to pass up. A find like that would have no doubt plunged me into the 10’s.
Just a few years ago Pawn Shops were legal again around here and sometimes I’ve gotten pretty good deals after the back and forth negotiating.

The Model 1006 has become so scarce that if you find one that has one magazine and is mechanically sound for $800, you have done quite well.

Much better 1006 deals than than the $800 example in the pawn shop show up on GB. Just not often enough.
Some lucky cuss got one with 3mags for $750...
Smith & Wesson 1006 10mm with 3 mags - Semi Auto Pistols at GunBroker.com : 850997447
And of course some examples with 1 mag/no box sell for a grand. Amazing.
I still couldn't get myself to give what they wanted. But with the single mag issue, the scuffing, not selling for at least 2 weeks, plus the manager knowing me from previous purchases, they had no problem selling it for $650. That i could do.

You're right, there is no escaping taxes! Even PSA online charges tax now. So lame.

Nice deal!
I had been looking for one too. They are over priced (not yours)
I actually ended up buying a Sig P220 Elite 10mm with 4 mags at $900 OTD. This was a really nice deal and just as sturdy as the 1006.
Now I will find a really good deal on a 1006 since I spent the money already
Nice score!

I like the look of the fixed sight but for shooting my AS 1006 has a great sight picture. Having said that if a nice FS 1006 fell into my lap at that kind of price it would be difficult to look the other way. Nice score either way.
I love the 10 mm.

Here she be, all cleaned up and gone over with grey Scotchbrite and Lucas CLP (this stuff is good).
This is a really nice pistol. Can't wait to shoot it.

Cleaned up real nice - great deal. Enjoy it. I recently purchased a 1006 but have not had a chance for range time yet - can't wait.

Looks great! I prefer the brushed look to the factory bead blast that shows every little handling mark.

Thanks.
Still pretty close to the factory finish of the 4506, and no more scuffs.
edit to add...this is a grade B cell phone pic. When looking at them in person, the 1006 has a very slight sheen in comparison to the 4506

Any S&W 10MM would not last long here at $800. Good find. I hope that you enjoy it for many years.

Nice Score. I found a NOS 10mm magazine once. Bought it just in case I run upon a 1006. 3 day wait? Let me guess- Illinois

I'd love to find one in that condition, at that price point. Congrats.

I've got two 3rd gens (4506 & 4566) to clean up a little, I'd like to see the grain that pad put in them if you can get it in the right light as I'd like to keep mine as close as possible to the factory finish. I've already refinished one of my 10mm's with a custom finish and like it, but want to keep all my other 3rd's as close as possible to factory.
Thanks

That's about as good a pic as I can get. The cell phone camera quality is horrible compared to others I've had.
I used the pad in a circular motion to remove the handling marks
