S&W PPK/S-1 in .32acp

There's been several threads lately about .32acp pistols and its got my curiosity up. I own a S&W made PPK/S-1 in .32acp. The only info I've ever been able to find is that it was made in 1999 and I'm not real sure that's true.
Both S&W and Walther treat the S&W guns like a red headed step child. Walther says they have no info at all and S&W says they no longer have any records.
Even the SCS&W only contains two paragraphs about the PPK/S-1 which basically just acknowledges that S&W did indeed make them.
So I'm wondering if anybody here can provide any info on numbers made and just how rare/scarce the .32acp models are?

For a time, S&W distributed PPK/S pistols made by Ranger in Gadsden AL after the demise of Interarms and prior to their own manufacturing of them beginning in early 2002.

Does your pistol have the extended beavertail and was it subject to the recall? (If so, it wasn't made in 1999.)

From what I've come to understand, S&W made the PPK/s under license from Walther between 2001 and 2012. Interarms made them for Walther between 1980 and 1999. I don't know what was happening to them between 1999 and 2001.

However, I own what I believe may be one of the red-headiest, red-headed stepchildren of the lot. It's a 32 ACP PPK/S with Interarms features ("Interarms, Alexandria Virginia" etched on the right side of its frame, short beaver tail and serrated trigger), purchased new in early 2000 in a S&W box with a Walther logo stuck over the embossed S&W logo. Paperwork in the box states "As of August 1999, all warranty repair will be conducted at Walther USA 2100 Roosevelt Avenue, Springfield, MA". I believe that it was probably a left-over Interarms stock gun that was transferred to S&W during the early phase of their licensing agreement. The test target in its box is dated May, 1998. The SKU on the box is VAP24212.

Red-headed or not, it's still a fun plinker with a bit of James Bond panache. -S2

This one was definitely made by S&W. It has the long beavertail and says Smith & Wesson on it. S&W model marked their guns as PPK/S-1. I have been told that S&W only made some .32s early in their production, but I've never been able to find out how many .32s were made. Heck, I can't even find how many PPKs S&W made in total. Stats on these guns just don't exist.

Mine did need the recall done. But after hearing a number of horror stories about how S&W handled them, I sent mine to Walther Arms in Arkansas. Yes, they will work on any Walther pistol no matter who actually made it. They paid shipping both ways and had the gun back to me in 8 days. Absolutely outstanding customer service.

While I have run across a few S&W made PPK/Ss in .380 over the years, this is the only one I've ever seen in .32. So I've always wondered, are they rare? Scarce? Have any extra value?

Probably a "Catch 22".
I've never seen one. Rare guns tend to bring more collectors value.
.32s autos tend to bring less than .380s


I have an Interarms PPK/s in .32. found it in a LGS 3 or 4 years ago.... just the gun and 4 factory magazines........... $280.

A PPK in .32 acp (7.65 Browning) is on my wish list, if I can find one I can afford.

I just saw the gun you are talking about (S&W PPK/S-1) on one of the well-known auction websites. I zoomed in to find the PPK/S-1 designation near the trigger guard. Starting bid is $800.00 with no bids at this time. Auction ends Feb. 11.

The PPK was originally chambered in 7.65 Browning (.32 acp). The first handgun I ever fired, many long years ago, was a WWII bring back PPK in 7.65 Browning.

I bought this one simply because its the only S&W that I ever ran across in .32acp. I figured it was something unusual, so was attracted to it.
I have a great fondness for the Walther PP series pistols and have several.



I'm still looking for one more. A blue PPK in .32 acp. The real Bond gun.

I don’t have a ppk but I do have a pp in 32acp.It came from a forum member thank you bear bio .I am very fond of it.I like shooting it and even carry it on occasion.
