Default ... worn out m-659 ?

My 659 won't go back together. The guide-rod won't stay clipped to the barrel anymore. The teeny-tiny notch on the barrel appears to be worn out. {Won't hold the rod and spring}.
What's the fix?
Thanks- Don

Usually, this is due to a damaged or worn edge on the button at the end of the guide rod. The edge can sometimes be peened back (re-sharpened) so that it will catch in the notch. Purchasing a new guide rod would be another alternative.

If the rod is ok, the notch in the barrel can be restored by carefully re-cutting with an end mill. If the cavity is re-cut/cleaned up with an end mill or similar, be sure to use the correct diameter tool, which is approx. 3/8", or .375", and maintain the correct profile and location.

Nice Model 659 you have there. I think Armorer951 has given you some great advice.
